I want to introduce my mom to gaming
Mainly so she will get off my back about spending too much time by the computer¨
What would be a good game to "ease" her into the situation

The Sims - I have yet to meet a girl who does not like The Sims.
That or Animal Crossing.

My mom really enjoyed playing The Beatles Rock Band with me. (But maybe your mom isn't in to the Beatles as my mom is.)

Bad idea introducing your mom to gaming,
You should introduce your father instead
My dad lives in australia. So.. Hard.
plus if you managed to introduce your dad to gaming, he'd probably go insane due to ridiculous release dates. :)

I say get her to play Animal Crossing, The Sims, Peggle, or pretty much any Wii game.

I'm a guy and I liked both of those games... is that a bad thing?

And I agree with the Sims. It's an easy to learn addicting game that anyone can enjoy. Or any kind of MMO, but mostly I would recommend Maple Story. It's free so if she doesn't like it you wouldn't have wasted any money and it's very easy to get the hang of.

You know, when i introduced my mom to peggle, she hogged the computer for a while until her peggle phase ended. So if there's only one computer in the house, getting her on games might not be the best idea if you play a lot, which it sounds like you do.

Anyway, i got my sister playing the sims, and after that she started playing team fortress 2, so go with the sims. Casual games work, but she might stop playing those after a while.

There is a reason some games are stereotypically described as "for women". Getting your mom into those would be a good start.

Now if you were talking about, say, a 12-year-old sister rather than a middle-aged woman, that would be a different story. To quote my wife, who said this while we were in Best Buy looking at DS games and seeing the "Imagine" series: "If my mom bought me that shit when I was 12 instead of Starcraft I'd probably think games were stupid too."

(yes, my wife is awesome. Plays Horde and everything.)

I got my mom hoked onto KOTOR 1 very randomly. Being a star wars fan she was interested in the game i was playing one morning before school, i showed her what it was about and started a game for her and left for school. When i came home she was still playing it, and had been all day, she was farther than me and we had to begin allotting computer time for who got to play it.

Now it Animal Crossing all the time

Depends what computer you have. PC? Console?

As uninspired as my answer is, the wii is the best bet. It got my mum into gaming. She started off with really simple Wii titles but now plays (superior) gamecube games more often now.

Problem is, she spends more money than me on games now.

I tried portal with me mom, but she couldn't grasp the concept of "portals" - so i gave up.

However if crime dramas are her thing, try the CSI games

It was kind of funny. I was playing Mass Effect and I was havnig a conversation when my Mom walked in. She said she never knew video games had a storyline to it, and tought it was random killing. Kind of funny, kind of sad (not really lol) to know about more than half of the parents out there think video games are just there to shoot people.
