Restricing people's freedoms just before elections is a great way to make them hate you. Is he trying to lose this election, or is he trying too hard to win?

and anything that's banned/forbidden becomes so much more appealing. The minute you block it people will think there was some force behind it and are more likely to vote against now (against the guy in charge)
