(Sorry if a similiar thread has been made before)

So this morning I decided to play Half-life 2 for the first time(shocking I know). I was going through the Canal bit, and doing quite well I might add. But I come to this particular gunfight where my health is nearly completely depleted so I decide to make a run for it. Running along, and I get a checkpoint. But literally no more than a second after I get said checkpoint, I get killed. so now I'm stuck in this endless loop of reloading the game, then getting killed straight away. I tried for 10 minutes to get away somehow, but no luck. Everytime I get killed.

Not to mention I didn't save at all, forcing me to start the game again from scratch.

So my question to all you fellow gamers, have you had any similarly annoying experiences?

Fallout 1 is a fairly old game so it doesn't have any auto-save feature whatsoever. I frequently forget to save due to not getting into the habit of doing so. So I die fairly often and have to replay about half an hours worth of game.

I am wondering if I will ever get to the end of the game.

I suffer the same problem. Stupid current gen games with their training wheel auto-saves. /mumblegrumble

Nothing irritates me in a game more than the DREADED WATER TEMPLE, though.

I think I'll go with that fucking desert buggy level in Bad Company 2. It's like they ran out of good ideas, so they decided to spam attack helicopters at the end of each area. AND THOSE THINGS TOOK ME 20 TRIES TO BRING THEM DOWN

STALKER: Shadow Of Chernobyl is annoying me lately. I can't play it, I've got Super Mod Pack installed, and whenever I get to the Army Warehouses, it lags to fuck. A common problem, sadly.

So I have to wait until they release version 2.5 in a while to play it. That's irritating.
Oooooooor return to vanilla happiness island :D

O.T The part in all Devil May Cry games where you have to beat all the stages again, backwards..

Oh man, fucking Fallout. I got captured and put in a cell by a mutant scientist, and I had no idea of how to get out. Tried everything, even went online but I got no answers. Previous save was hours before.

This happens to me all the time in RPGs, and most of the time I get really far. Like, half-way through the damn game.

i played through about five hours worth of the game before being killed when my space suit got destroyed and i suffocated to death inches away from an airlock, i clicked continue and found myself at the begining of the game....

Ever play Daggerfall?
Don't. I mean, it's good and all, but it's one of those games:
"Man, I am AWESOME now! I mean, look at that! I just killed like ten of those really hard... of... Huh, what's that? Looks like I can take it- AH JESUS CHRIST"

That's how a Let's Play of Daggerfall would probably end.

i played deus ex and i got to this part when in a tunnel. the only way of getting past is to hack a fusebox with a multitool so i bring up my inventory and.... i realise i had just used eight to hack into a room in the free clinic. i spend 5 hours backtracking trying to find a multitool.

Having to waste time moving between locations in Just Cause 2 was something I could've done without.

At the moment I'm playing dawn of war 2 ( only recently got it with Chaos Rising included for $80 :D ) and I'm happily killing every Ork and Eldar I see and then once I meet the Tyranids I figure " Hey lets just use the devastators to wipe out the little guys and kill others with the rest ". Next thing I know I have restarted 3 times and have finally killed the FIRST Warrior.... Kinda ruined my moment of bad-assary from beating everything other Xenos in one mission.

So now I'm barely scraping past the apparently NEW Eldar that had more health that any other I previously faced. Turns out I was fighting children and now they became teens.

That one trophy or achievement in a game. You know what I'm talking about. All trophies in a certain game are piss-easy except for that one annoying impossible achievement.
