Already happened in the Heart of Evil Half-Life mod. It was probably quite a bit more tongue-in-cheek than this will be, considering it was chock full of zombies and mutated gorilla, but the basic premise was the same, Kurtz goes crazy, find Kurtz and terminate him with extreme prejudice.
Yeah, but does Kurtz tiger cage you and almost convert you to his philosophy? No? Then, as an adaptation, it sucked.

Sounds like a fun mod, tho.

Well, the Platoon game was bloody atrocious, but you never know, there might be a tiny chance that this could work.
I was about to post I remember liking the Platoon game on my Amstrad. You took the wind out of my sails. It was difficult though.

I smell generic FPS though...

[Chopper intro cutscene]"How do kill a good movie franchise and an anti-war/violence philosophy by turning it into a game?!
Don't lead the industry on ideas as much!! HAHAHAHA!!"

I smell this dying in a fire. In the morning.

no. no. AW HELL NAW. Some things just shouldn't be games. I'm fine with Nam games (in fact, I'd love to see even more), but there is simply no need to ruin perfection.

How might one go about turning the Heart of Darkness into a video game? Someone please stop them.

Oooooooooookay... if they do this properly (which they probably won't, but they might), this could be the most awesome video game of all time.

If so, they better release it on blu-ray/DVD already. I want to see this movie so damn bad but it's all discontinued... I should've bought that "Dossier" when I first saw it.

This game would have to be presented with a true-to-form Stanley Kubrick style story. Honestly, it would have to be a series of lengthy cut scenes where there's alot of narration and sub-tones with some playable scenes. It would literally have to be an interactive movie, not a full-on game from any genre.

... a bit late for an April's fools joke, innit?

Now reading this headline first induced surprise, then a brief moment of contempt, like how *could* they even *think* about touching that fucking masterpiece. Reading halfway through the article I was dreaming up ways to avoid any kind of news on this thing until it blows over. Immediately after that, there was a shimmer of hope though, reading about the talent that they've hired. If it's true. Now I'm undecided, whether to invest any kind of faith into this, or not.

Naaaaaaaaaaa, and filler so hopefully the mod won't sanction another suspension for not typing enough (an evil rule IMO).

will there be an option to stare into at the ceiling fan in your room!?!? then a quick-time event to dance to The Doors in your underwear and smash a mirror in a drunken-post-traumatic stupor, ending with signing the papers for your divorce!?

Could be a good game, it's got no release date to keep up with, should let it "cook" for as long as it needs to.
I agree, lets see some more information come out about it.

Certainly curious though as to the choice itself, going back a few years to be sure

Is it bad that my first thought was "original or redux"?
Yes. Redux is clearly superior, except for that weird scene on the French plantation... :p

Far Cry 2 IS a video game adaptation of Heart of Darkness... basically. The game even gives a couple nods to this.

Er...yeah, could always not screw up the movie, there's alot you could do with a new Vietnam game, why pick a title where everyone knows the plot and ending and set pieces? (AU$5 says if this comes out it's going to feature a 'ride of the valkyries' helicopter thingo). Make something new about Vietnam. And why not play as an NVA soldier? That way you can actually win the game. (I'm not a betting man, but AU$100 says this won't happen as a major title)*

*I'm not giving anyone any money. ever.

The only way this would be good is if you get to be in the 1/9 Cav under Lt. Kilgore. Cue "Cry of the Valkeries"!

Lets just hope the developers don't run into problems like the film crew did. Hate to see the video game adaption of the movie adaption of the making of the movie.
