Is anyone here going to get an Xbox Series X?

That's what things pretty much seem, that's why im getting the disc version.

Well I was gonna get a PS5 because of the hopes of it being at least backwards compatible with physical PS4 discs.

But the Xbox Series X offers compatibility with ALL Xbox Console generations.

Only what's on game pass, and frankly I would rather play new games than Xbox's old junk. It's a great value, but I rarely go back in time these days so I don't really see the purpose. The cost you pay to get Game Pass, is that you don't get the option of playing the great new exclusives that come out via Playstation. Xbox's new offerings are slim to say the least.

But each person has their own gaming preferences.

I thought Xbox Series X CAN play with discs of prior Xbox generations?

No idea. I don't think so. because the disc drive reader would need to be able to read all those different formats.
I don't have an xbox one so I don't know, but the Xbox 360 was able to read xbox original games.

I recently replayed some of Halo CE on my old Xbox 360 with my Xbox original disk.

Plus if the point of backwards compatibility is playing old games people already have, then it’s not exactly adding value having to pay extra for a game pass.

It's a game on a DVD. I've never seen any bluray player that couldn't read a DVD
360 games where on Microsoft's special failed formet HDDVD discs, so any other blu ray player would not read them.

So i don't know that the new xbox could read those older crazy format discs.

Not really on my radar, my PC is capable enough and will be more so when I drop a 30XX card into it in the next six months or so. If I buy next generation it’ll be Sony. Big if though.

Uh, the games were bog standard DVD. Otherwise the HD-DVD drive wouldn’t have been an extra add on via USB.

Now if HD-DVD had become the dominant format the very next version of the 360 would have had the drive built in.

Wasn't gonna buy one cause I do have a gaming PC, but ended up pre-ordering one. My plan was just to use Steam Link on the TV, but considering the 2080ti is already not exactly powerful enough to run every current-gen game at 4K 60fps with ray tracing etc, and most games are being optimized for the new consoles to run at that level it ended up making sense to get one.

Kinda put a bunch of money away to do a next-gen upgrade haha, so picked up a Sony x900h, and pre-ordered the PS5 / XSX...for work. And did a living room refresh that I'm happy with.

Looking good Nick.

When it's a lot cheaper. There were a couple of old xbox games that didn't make it to Windows. As far as I know.
Cheaper than $299? I doubt it'll ever get much cheaper maybe $249 on a black friday sale in a couple years.

I've talked with my brother earlier on Saturday, and he does not want a Series X either. He has his One X and he got a gaming laptop 3 months ago. I don't blame him.
