**DISCLAIMER** I did consider putting a poll on this, but I thought it would be better to hear people thoughts directly form them, as opposed to looking at statistic.

Aura: The dictionary basically describes it as a field of subtle, luminous radiation supposedly surrounding a person or object (like the halo or aureola of religious art) that some people are claimed to be capable of observing by means of their third eye. ( thank you Wikipedia)

I am slightly skeptical about aura reading as a whole but am open to interpretation and conversion if given enough reason to.

Many people claim to be able to see aura, and it was even bought up on Hollyoaks, I am unfamiliar with the show so I can't really give any information on it I'm afraid.

Scientists are still studying aura as to find out whether it could be real or just a hallucination, perhaps bought on by drug use or sickness.

Please share your thoughts.

I don't know about visible aura's but I have an uncanny ability to sense when someone is near, even if I don't hear them. I believe humans radiate some kind of presence although I don't know if it is something as mystical as an 'aura' it might just be an undeveloped sense, like how cat's use their whiskers to sense things and bugs use antenna.

It could be a myth originating from the way some people see sounds as colours, and seeing as the head emits the most noise it would seem like a halo.

What most people consider aura's are actually pretty common photographical effects. Of course there are plenty of people that claim to be able to see them, but there are also plenty of people that claim to be God.

As long as there is just as much scientific evidence for the existence of these auras as there is for the existence of invisible strawberry monster that rule the world I'm not convinced.

Or it's plain heat. Humans radiate a lot of heat.

Aura is real. It's just referring to the energy being given off of the human body. The amount of energy is different based on what mood you are in. Couple that with other different things that include mood and pheromones et voila! Aura.

It's just something you stepped in. [small]Cookie for reference.[/small]

OT: Until I'm proven otherwise, I'm going to have to say no.

It always is. I'm a huge fan of DB and DBZ. GT sucked though.

Anyway, I even went as far as styling my hair like them and believing that I could super saiyan up.

... Call me sad.

I think I can see them very very occasionally.

I try to remind myself it's probably just the way the light is refracting around the person, but...

I never know.

Also, I've been told mine is orange, and I forgot what that meant.

DON'T even get me started on this. My freind is nuts about this and goes on about seeing my aura and my friends and saying when we get angry/upset it affects him too. Bunch of rubbish IMO.

Same here. I just get this "feeling" when a friend is in my vicinity.

If i had to guess, perceived auras are a result of a few things:

1. Sub-surface scattering. As light enters the skin, it is partially reflected by multiple layers of cells, thus giving a slight glowing outline to most people in bright situations.(unreal III engine fakes this constantly... with everything. That's why everything on xbox is shiny all the time.)

2. A quirk of how our eyes work. We have separate cells for sensing contrast and color. Our ability to sense contrast is far more sensitive than color... so if we see a figure in our foreground that contrasts highly with the background, we tend to see a sort of haloing effect.

3. The way we process images is iconic in nature. Our brains are tuned to recognize patterns, and the human form is one of the most recognizable pattern of all (that's why we see faces in clouds and such). An aura might just be a psychological glitch related to recognizing a human pattern.

... or yeah sure, it could be magical spirit funk.

whatever.

I dont know, i guess it could be true, we might be giving off a certain type of energy, but i remain skeptic.

The force is strong in this one :D

I get that too, but I wish I could tell who it was. Everytime I time I try to surprise someone who I can 'feel' is coming, I get their name wrong

OT: Not in the spiritual sense, we probably do [whatever everyone else who had scientific explanations said]

Hrm... hard to say. I mean everyone and everything is emitting energy. Even if it's just in really small amounts. I know several people who say they can see aura's. One of them is a martial arts expert, and he's like fifty or something like that. Personally, it could be some sort of schizephrenia (sp?) that could be causing people to see these things. But I dunno, I guess science will at some point shed some "light" on this subject.

Yea, it's there.
So is a whole bunch of shit you don't want to know about. If you do, go past aura and look into astral projection.
I did.

I don't want to ruin any of the surprises but to give you the short version: all we humans can see are reflections of white light wavelengths and it's spectrum. The wavelengths get indefinitely broader and slimmer even if we can't see them. So there are whole other spectrums, sometimes reflecting off completely different things, we just can't see them with our eyes.

There's a book called Adventures Beyond the Body by William Bhulman. Read that before you read some new age drivel on the subject.
