I agree the single player was meh but...

crysis multiplayer powerstruggle was some of the most fun to be had in online shooter. fuck cod4, don't order in a AI controlled helicopter go and get in a drive your own. cod4 is so ordinary it really is overated blandness. CSS was good but its old... it really gets dull. halo 3 is only fun because it has split screen online multiplayer and nothing else does.

crysis's powerstruggle is basically a big rip from battlefield series but better. but i've bought the battlefield series and its not as good, it even runs worse since the servers are so laggy. crysis looks amazing runs great provided you got a decent PC, the maps are HUGE. the biggest ones are really very large, you NEED a car to travel around them. even in online maps the imersion is not broken with things like frogs, chickens and fish moving around in them and day night cycle server option.

its got a heavy RTS elements with capturing energy plants to power up your base and get more advanced technology for your team, capturing air/warfactories to build tanks/aircraft and winning buy destroying enemy base, taking out its defensive turrets. it makes it feel more like a battle than a death match.

customising weapons with different sights/modifications. some different sci fi technology mixed it but not totally ridiculous. different play styles using suit in different modes and picking up different weapons is like changing class on the fly. you can cloak up and go sneaky, go around assassinating people bare handed, use items like radar kit to find enemies or lock pick to steal tanks.

unfortunately now there is alot less people playing online the game is probably not worth buying, few decent servers nowdays. instead of supporting and updating the game with patches crytek just bought out a new version of the game you had to buy to get what good companies like valve would have patched in for free (probably EA's fault eh?). and now they are trying to grab more money with crysis maximum edition it seems. I tried the new crysis multiplayer on "crysis: warhead" it doesn't change much but its ok, I would buy it but whats the point if EA wont support its own games and there not alot of people playing anyway it seems.

RIP crysis powerstruggle you underated diamond...

Apart from having a bland gameplay, the top of the art graphics didnt help to bring a big and healthy online community.

Games like Counter-Strike:Source or CoD4 dont push that much of your machine like Crysis does.

Well, to your CoD4 ripping i have one thing to say. SHUT UP YOU TWAT. CoD4 multiplayer is good because it is balanced. And I'm sorry to say it but USER DRIVEN VEHICLES ARE NOT BALANCED. And to overrated blandness... WHAT? I've been playing CoD4 since i got it over a year ago and not once have i gotten bored. Okay, sorry for my CoD4 fanboyness.

Well Crysis Powerstruggle is pretty good but there are just to many unbalanced features. Having the different suit models usually leads to angry failure when you run into another one. I too thought it was really fun. But not really as good as you make it seem. Yeah yeah yeah turrets turrets tanks suit upgrades but it really just gets repetitive. There are ways to easily win on most maps. Well try it if you want to but I'd say there are definitely better multiplayer options out there.

What is there to say really? I dont buy PC FPSs for the multiplayer element. PC gamers themselves have been spoiled over the years with rich and fulfilling FPS games (Deus Ex, and System Shock 2). Before I even bought the game, I realized it was most likely going to be nothing more than a umpteen gig tech demo attached to some insipid fragfest. I bought it anyway because the PC was (still is) starving for titles.

I have not seen many first person shooters that don't qualify as bland in a long time.
A very, very long time.

wait... wait a second user driven vehicles are unblanced?!?!? so wait AI is completely balanced because they are set to do something and NOTHING else. and as for unbalanced other games sure pull it off...

I don't know about the multiplayer, but I actually quite enjoyed the singleplayer. It wasn't amazing, but the suit abilities and being able to destroy every building in the game made the combat great fun.

People bash Crysis because it had amazing graphics so obviously that MUST be the only reason people liked it. Well, the last time I played it it was on a computer that could only handle it on lowest settings (with physics on high), so that isn't the case.

I remember showing someone how realistic the world was in singleplayer how you could destroy everthing. then I drove into a tree, it fell down straight on me and killed me! I remember watching it in first person come down on my face it was epic.

I agree vechicles are usually overpowered but thats usually because maps in most fps games are so small vechicles are pointless. I mean apart from sandtrap you really can't drive a vechicle in halo for very long without having to stop. helicopters in cod4 are not balanced. in crysis its pretty fair if you know how to play, can just cloak or hide in a bush and they can't find you. call it out and someone with missile launcher it downtown, it encourages teamplay me thinks.

I agree lack of maps kind of killed it would have been ace if there was a custom maps. but farcry2 had custom maps and its multiplayer failed even harder, it was so poorly implemented shame had potential too.

Crysis online (Crysis Wars) is the best!!! Seriously, best FPS multiplayer. Its a pitty the community is pretty low at the moment. The actual story/single player isn't all to great.

Yes, it is totally underrated.

The sheer number of strategies and tactics a player can use to complete almost every level puts it near the top in my book. Some levels are more linear, but they come off as a gfresh breath in gameplay.

::EDIT:: I forgot to mention that it is amazing how much of the gamewold is open for you to explore. I've found many, many little hidden secrets throughout the game.

It's hard to say it was underrated when probably more than half the PC Gamers out there couldn't experience it to its full potential.

I upgraded my PC just for Crysis and I still had trouble... apparently it doesn't run any better with dual Nvidia 8800GT video cards...

I wouldn't say the Single Player game is revolutionary... but definitely worth experiencing. For anyone that enjoyed Far Cry or any game similar to it.... Crysis is right up your ally.

I don't think it was underrated.

First, Warr Monger said it best - a huge quantity of gamers, myself included, needed a space-computer from the future to run this beast at its highest potential. Not cool.

Second, aside from the interesting-at-first Super Suit thing (which got old once you realized you stealth to get close to, super speed to run up to and super strength to mutilate an enemy), it really offered nothing new to the genre.

No, I take that back - the zero-g section literally had me gaping at my monitor, wondering how this could happen. Other than that though, it was a purely "meh" game and I took it the same way I took the first FarCry - as an interactive tech demo, or an incredibly gorgeous screen saver.

Also, the dialogue and story were one hundred percent B-movie camp. "I don't think we're alone here..."

I don't think Crysis is underrated it's more likely to be overrated.
sure it has very nice graphics but the gameplay is so dull and the A.I. is so random.
For example I was hiding in the bushes on a hill side looking over a small campment I could barely make out moving pixels to be soldiers. and as one turns around he spots me and starts shooting at me with eagle eye accuracy. That totally ruined the whole game for me because there was no way I could hit him from that distance. And I only just witnessed the first sunrise in the game (wich by all means was gorgeous)

As a visual benchmark of pc prowess it's excelent but as a shooter or a game in general it's nothing special nor ground breaking.
There are far more entertaining titles out there for me.
If a game like Oblivion(or better: morrowind)was made with the same graphical engine it would byfar surpass crysis on all fronts.

I had more fun watchin crysis than playing it wich is not what I'm looking for in a game.

haven't played mgs 4 but that's actually watching a story unfold instead of some goon shooting some other goons with some alien invasion plot.

Definitely a fav of mine. But I still think MGS3 was better. For numerous reasons.....

Still... MGS3 and MGS4 make the series worth playing.

But not to deviate from the topic.... play Crysis... if your PC can handle it. I own Warhead.. but have yet to play it because I don't like when my PC overheats.

my computer can run crysis only at high since I run winxp and no I don't have a killer setup but the whole game is not my cup o' tea I tried to understand what it was all about but I found it as interesting as watching infomercials while sober.
