Is it just me ... or do women make terrible comedians?

Well, for me at least, there is no one funnier then Jo Brand, she is fucking hilarious. Though I do have to kinda agree, a large majority of the female comedians I've come across have been terrible, but I just assume that's my own bad luck.

Can we make it a rule that if you don't know what the hell you're talking about, please don't say "Let's look at this from an evolutionary and sociological viewpoint"?
Because honestly, the second I read this, I'm almost positive I'm going to be in for some college freshman bullshitting with no basis in anything.

Sorry bro, but umm, no.
Maybe he read a book? Or listened to an expert?

He's right. Women are less funny.

Wait, sorry, politically correct mode ON:

Women are of course as equally funny as men. They are also equally physically strong, and have equally developed spatial & emotional understandings to their male counterparts. To cite screamingly obvious differences between genders is SEXIST. Truth is irrelevant.

Not sure about how many female comedians there are compared to male comedians. Maybe the proportion of good comedians to bad comedians is consistent through both genders, but since there are less female comedians, you see less GOOD female comedians.

Again, Don't get me wrong, I'm not sexist it's just the impression I get.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not sexist I just make sexist comments and present myself holding sexist opinions."

What.
There's a difference between believing women and men have different qualities and thinking that one sex is inherently better than the other.
I'm guessing OP isn't of the latter conviction.

Meh, I think that funny is probably a matter of taste too, so there are some people that will like "bad" comedians and some people will like "good" comedians, and some people will hate Dane Cook, and some people will hate Larry the Cable Guy, and some people will hate Phillis Diller, and some people will hate Wanda Sykes.

Female comedians also tend to talk about things women find silly or ironic more, too... So I like some female comedians my boyfriend can't stand, but he likes some male comedians I have no love for.

Don't forget that men are also equally suited to breastfeed infants.

If you think women cant be funny, then you just never watched any comedy by women.
I have, most of them seem to make really disgusting sexual jokes or do what a lot of unfunny male comedians do. And that is just make jokes about stereotypes and drugs in a really unfunny manor.

I'm sure there are some funny female comedians, but most of the ones who are on a basic stand up show don't get many laughs, or they say something really embarrassing and stupid.

I think it's that things that are funny to women like child birth jokes and menopause cracks just don't appeal to men. I'm sure women don't think our penis jokes are funny either.

There are comedians who don't need gender-specific material to be funny, but I haven't heard many of them.

The problem with female comedians is the same problem that any comedian who isn't a boring white male has -- any differentiation from the norm they have just becomes all of their routine.

For example, many black comedians, they will only make jokes about racism and being black, a short comedian mostly makes jokes about being short, fat comedians tend to make jokes about being fat and female comedians have a tendency to mainly make jokes about women, feminism and sexism.

Its all right for a time, but these comedians who tend to base their routines around their traits get old quick, which is why, imo, women comedians are, generally speaking not as good as male comedians.

You can call me sexist, racist, heightist, weightist, ageist or whatever-else-ist, but to me it just seems like a fact.

I basically disagree with you, but I'm going to outline why and try to make my point well without starting an argument
Assumption one:Most comedians suck. I would say this is true. There are a great deal more comedians than there are good comedians. I don't just mean those that are successful, a lot of these things come down to personal taste, but I'm a pretty big fan of stand-up comedy, observational/situational comedy being my favourite, and I've seen a lot of people being really bad at it. Myself included. It's harder than it looks.
Assumption two:there are more male comedians than female comedians (or comediennes if you like). I don't think it's reasonable to even try to disagree with this, it's pretty obvious from a simple look around - you get ten Jasper Carrots or Russell Peters or Peter Kays for each Sarah Millican or whoever. Why this is the case is sort of irrelevant, but I would wager that it's a sociological archetype thing. The guy that keeps his mates laughing round the table in the pub/bar is a much more common picture than the same idea with a woman. Possibly this is because, as with everything else ever, men did it professionally first. Charlie Chaplin, for example, was decades ago, and only in the past ten years or so are we really starting to see female-starring sketch shows come into their own light. I think the male majority here is due to us doing what we're used to, not any biological inability of women to be funny.
Assumption three:There will always be demand for female comedians. I would argue this point; women will always want to laugh at women, and blokes will always want a bit of variety if they're really into comedy. This facilitates what I think is the problem that you're highlighting:
It is easier for a bad female comic to be successful than a male one, simply because they are female - there is more competition for male comedians. However, say that 5-10% of comics are actually very very good, the overall number of male comics that are very very good will be larger than the number of female comics that are very very good because of assumption two. This basically means that we wind up thinking that female comedians are not funny - when really what we mean is "I've seen some female comics and they were a bit rubbish". They are out there, and they are funny. I promise. I ask you this: do you have female friends? Have any of them ever made you laugh? If you answered yes to both of these, then women can be funny, and there is a comedian out there who is female and will tickle you pink, you just have to look for her. If you answered no to either then either get some more friends, as a lack in female contact may be the cause for your current position, or get different friends because the female ones you have are clearly boring. (last one was a wind-up, please don't flame me, I said I wasn't funny)

What, do you want me to cite my sources?

Please tell me exactly how I'm wrong instead of just saying I don't know what I'm talking about.

Really, for the most part like...1 out of like 50 comedians that are female would be the funny types. It's not being a sexist or anything but it's kind of that thought process that it depends on their skits really. A woman thinks far more broadly about things and despite getting to the center of the subject, it takes a few moments longer to get to the punchline. Basically it's always a moment after when the punchline should take place. I've noticed that when watching many comedians, you have to hit a rhythm to keep people hanging on your every word, and I know many gals who like to keep the stories prolonged to keep their friends close. Though it might be funny, it still misses the punchline time that you need to get to to be funny.

I know, my timing tends to be off all the bloody time, so I feel like a baseball player waiting for the ball to be thrown to me, only it's already been thrown and I stupidly stare onwards, in-comprehending what just happened.

I have noticed though, that some of the funnier females I've known are British. Something I've just noted.

I don't know if you were specifically talking about the stand up arena, but I think Amy Sedaris is a pretty hilarious lady. I even got to meet her once and she was just as funny off stage.
