Is it just me ... or do women make terrible comedians?

Can we at least all agree on that there isn't a comedian in the world more offensively worthless than Dane Cook?

Second.

you just haven't seen the right ones, there are a lot of terrible ones out there, just as there are terrible male comedians.

I love Vanessa Hollingshead

She does a rap of Lucy in the sky with diamonds, that is just pricelss. Which isn't in here and I cant find :(
Good example of what the OP is talking about...
Actually not all of the content is woman specific. And what the OP is asking for is largely non existent comedians make jokes about their experiences. Chris Rock without black jokes?
Errr all the OP is asking is a funny female comedian not the actual content. That New Yorker "comedian" has just made jokes about towel heads and well...it's nothing but racist slander. You could even tell the crowd was like wtf...? Yeah and Chris Rock and nearly any Black American comedian revolves around racist comedy. You can call me racist or whatever but I'm sick of racism being the basis for so much comedy in America

The thing is that women don't need to be funny to get attention - thus the majority of comedians and funny people are men.
I agree with this. I'm not sexist either but if you look at it from an evolutionary or sociological perspective, this makes sense. (Also, keyword here--majority of comedians are male, which is true. Some female comedians are hilarious.)

Men gain the respect of other people with their personalities--their charisma, intelligence, wit, and humour (physical strength too if you're looking back to caveman days). The man respected by other men is the "alpha male" in any given group of people and this more than anything else would traditionally garner female attention and mating rights.

Women, on the other hand, try to catch the man's attention by being physically attractive; I admit, in the modern day, funny girls are awesome but I'd still say that 6/10 guys would choose a really hot girlfriend over a funny one, at least from ages 18-30. But women don't need to develop this sense of humour because it's not going to be the main feature about her that gets noticed--her boobs are.

Sorry to reduce this to a kind of animalistic argument but it makes so much sense. Again, I'm not sexist and this whole thing is a huge generalization--I know some girls that are a lot funnier than most guys--but throughout history this is kind of how it's been, for the most part. To what degree this applies in the modern day is debatable, but I think that underneath all the pretenses these are still the main motivations behind people's actions.

Not saying that women don't but they are still on average far more centred, rational, dedicated individuals who, if Humanity was clever enough to realise, should be running the planet if only because there'd be less people going batshit insane.

Though I'm sure we all have our own experiences and could loudly declare that we feel the X/Y sex of the species is far more irrational and emotionally driven than the other, the reality is it's pretty much a fair split, there are logical men and women and there are illogical men and women.

Heidi Foss is the only female stand up I've found funny so far.

There are far more humorous females in real life than in the world of stand up.

If you think women cant be funny, then you just never watched any comedy by women.
Bullshit. I admit there are a couple of good female comedians out there, like Victoria Wood, or French and Saunders (back when they were actually good), but for the most part, female comedians suck.

The problem is that where male comedians will talk about practically anything (from dunking biscuits to Balinese vermin) most female comedians seem to talk exclusively talk about sex and men and nothing else. Considering the woeful lack of female comedians, I think it is a great diservice that they only talk about the same subjects. The good ones are the ones that can find a different topic that doesn't end in a premature ejaculation gag.

At least they aren't as bad as American comics. They are terrible apart from Rich Hall and Reginald D Hunter who all live in the UK.....Funny that......

Also why the fuck do you Americans censor everything ? It Is so annoying they are just words ffs.
What about George Carlin? Or Bill Hicks?
Bill Hick's ? If I'm honest I think he Is the worst comic ever.... I do however hate the comics who act like Hicks. You know slow and in my honest opinion boring.

As for Carlin I've never heard of him. I shall research him now :D

Hesitantly, I have to agree. Most women comedians i've seen tend to be mildly amusing at best.
Having said that, there are a much larger number of god-awful male comedians so perhaps it all balances out?

As far as I know, there are no outstanding female comedians, or female-versions of, say, Doug Stanhope, George Carlin, Dylan Moran; who I consider to be thought provoking and intelligent comedians.
If I'm wrong give me some suggestions.

Never seen a funny female comedian, and Denmark's comedy scene is quite active. I haven't laughed or as much as smiled at foreign female comedians either.

Makes me sound very sexist for a socialist but lies don't move us forward.

Generally women find female comics funnier because the stuff they talk about is more to do with them. I don't find many funny, like Jo Brand, but then I find Victoria Wood to be absolutely fucking hilarious so I suppose it's a bit mixed.

Yes ... there are ... but I will say that all the times you're with women. Far more calming ... there's no angst, time seems to move without leaps and jumps. Sometimes I think wars start simply because there are men with guns in the same room and somebody loses it ...

And you don't get that when you're around women. Well you do, but very rarely.

And I don't think it's an even split ... and I'll give you an example ... the only time, I have ever been ambushed was in a pub ... was by a man who I was laughing with only 10 minutes beforehand.

How did that happen!? You want to know how it happened? It was because I was flirting with one young girl and it turned out she was his sister ... and supposedly he tried to tell me, but the environment was too loud in order to hear the conversation.

So ... He punched me ... now I don't know about you but it certainly seems to be a big jump.

From jovial drinker to psychotic moron, but you never get women doing that. Far more sophisticated and totally more effective way of dealing with problems that may arise from situations like that .... they run a person's name through the mud and stare icy daggers at you as if they'd spit on your soul if they could.

Far more effective.

Not only that but I suppose I couldpull up stats about how most serial killers are men, so on and so forth ... but there is a perfectly social example of what I'm alluding to.

Some of them are funny. Shappi Khorsandi (is that how you spell her name?) is liked by a few of my friends but I wasn't a fan. Sarah Millican is pretty good; pretty eccentric. Ava Vidal, when I saw her at Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, was really funny (she made jokes about her ethnicity and how her children should be sold to Madonna), and Jo Brand is pretty good also. Victoria Wood is HILARIOUS; the 'Let's Do It' song is amazing.

But I kinda agree, there are better male comedians. Jimmy Carr, Russell Howard, Michael McIntyre to name a few.
