Is It Time For San Andreas 2?

Many will argue that GTA San Andreas was the pinnacle of the Rockstar open world games (personally I think Bully comes daaaaayum close) and I would be inclined to agree. Sure, some improvements were definitely made during GTA IV such as the targeting and... graphics but ultimately I think it would be very hard to not admit that the rest was a step backwards. The game had great story, an interesting world that felt alive and vibrant and atmospheric. Even in Saint's Row 2 (which I LOVE), I never got that same feeling that at any moment a rival gang could show up and just start some beef with me or I was going out on a date tonight but might end up another ghetto black youth statistic as the victim of a drive-by.

CJ just had great commentary, a great cast, great missions, and great fun that kept the game a golden treat for me.

After seeing MUCH promise in the recent Red Dead Redemption (I also saw a lot of groan inducing issues) I'm wondering if Rockstar is adverse to the idea of revisiting the awesomeness that was San Andreas. If they did so, I personally would want them to bring back many aspects of the system, such as leveling up skills and those skills effecting your body type. Watch those cheeseburgers fatty!

So the question is, does anybody ELSE want to see a San Andreas 2.. instead of just another "GTA: Gritty City Simulator"? And if so, what features (Past, Present, or conceptual) would you like to see added to the game?

No, it's time for GTA5: London.

They need to bring back planes as well.

I'd just be happy of San Adreas was given a graphical improvement and achievements then ported to console, if only because San Adreas 2 would take a ridiculous amount of time to develop.

I dont think re-using a main character is the best idea with how GTA games go. Just bring back the sillyness and I wont much care where its set, long as it works. And I would not mind London or something, long as the character is a local. I dont need natives complaining that some punk american came to their virtual city to go kill them all and make money.

The northwestern state or the capital of the country? Or inside the first president's body?

I actually like the idea. I don't the city to feel like an actual one. I like having a brand new city, even if it just rips off other ones. I liked the three "zones" in San Andreas.

You play White Blood Cell #488931689651, and you are one bad ************. Take down other white blood cells and crawl your way to the top of the pile.

I mean ported to current-gen consoles 360 and PS3... also for the Wii on the condition it came with a tailored version that made full use of motion control.

I heard something about the next GTA being called GTA: Vice so it could be set in Vice City again. Personally i would love that, but it's just a rumour.

I was thinking that the exercising mini-games would make be a great opportunity for some motion-control fun. Although the auto-aim might get ditched, and with it weapon skillz...

You are inside Mr. Washington's body as he travels between the two places. When you sleep, get busted, or die, he swaps place, bringing in new air levels and different amounts of noise and pressure, affecting the entire game!

Calumon: ...That actually sounds pretty cool!

I agree with this... I don't think they need to actually bring BACK CJ.. in fact, I kind of hope they allow you to alter your character's appearance this time out. But I was thinking more about bringing back the actual GAMEPLAY of San Andreas... the multiple cities and environments, the activeness of the environment.. the variation of the missions between serious and fun, and the immersiveness of the rpg elements. I mean, something as simple as having your ACTIVITIES and FOOD have an effect on you was epic. If you run everywhere you get better at running. If you lift weights you can hit harder and lift things. Even the way you drive cars improves if you drive them enough. The feel that the environment has its dangers.. something they have revived to varied success in Red Dead Redemption with its "random" events where you can be roaming around minding your business and next thing you know someone is trying to ventilate your body with lead!

Hell I wish they'd take that big step and just let Mature = MATURE and actually HAVE the awesome sex minigame (with the option to turn off and on any censor bars). Sure, it might seem a little pathetic to be fapping off while virtually laying some pipe to a virtual girl, but hey, it got me engaged in a new way that no other game has and allowed me to use the original "joystick" which I suspect gave Nintendo the idea for the wii mote...

San Andreas' concept of including several towns and cities as well as countryside areas, was a brilliant touch that instantly made all other sandbox crime sims appear just a little bit out of date. Why we haven't seen more games like it ALREADY, is a mystery!
