Is it worth buying another console?

Okay, so basically I got a job about a month ago, and seeing as though I've been working public holidays, I've raked in quite a bit of money, and I was thinking about buying myself a PS3, because a number of my friends have them, and say that they're fantastic.
Now, I have an Xbox 360, and I was wondering whether it would actually be worth buying another console, or whether it would just be a waste, and would complicate my gaming patterns. That said, I'd rather that this didn't turn into some kind of console wars flame thread.
So if any of you guys have any advice, or experience on the sort of thing I'm talking about, I'd love to hear what you think.

Both consoles have their pros and cons. If I had extra cash I would invest it in stocks.

I own both consoles and a great PC, it is great, I don't miss any game I want to play, so if you can afford it, go ahead.

The best way to decide is have a look online and see what exclusives there are that interest you on the PS3. If there are a decent number available or coming out (my limit was 5) then get one. If not, its not really worth it as you can already play multiplatform releases on your Xbox 360.

I have all 3 consoles & a gaming PC, with about 20 titles for each. So, well, I guess that makes my opinion on the matter clear. If you're a serious gamer, and you can afford it, I'd say definitely get a PS3 as well. It has some great exclusives and if you split your multiplatform games over both systems, you'll increase the lifespan of both - it's win win!

I elect not to purchase a PS3 because I just don't have the time to play all the games I want to on my 360. Already last year I missed out on Brutal Legend, Saw: The Videogame and The Saboteur.... (Damn you Dragon Age).

If you've got the time and money to dedicate to two consoles, go for it.

with the state of exclusivity, I'd say there's very little reason to get a second console if you have their competitor. If you have neither, PS3 would probably be the better choice, but if you have a 360, there are only a couple of reasons to even consider getting a PS3, such as Uncharted 2, God of War 3 and MGS4. If those games are worth their own price plus 300 bucks, then yeah, get it.

Get both. I only have a 360 but I really want a ps3 for the recent and upcoming games e.g. Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, GOW3, FFXIII Versus etc.

No one has said anything about Ratchet and Clank.

R&C, Uncharted and GOW3 are the only resons for getting a PS3!

NOT a flame thread the TP said. Leave it to those retarded PC fanboys to not get the message ;)

But as others have said, it all depends on the exclusives and your taste. If there are a number of exclusive PS3 titles you'd like to play, go for it!

(for me that would be MGS4, FFXIIIversus, Folklore, Heavy Rain, extended Eternal Sonata)

Also, for someone who has nintendo in his name, not even a consideration for the wii? =p (it certainly has enough excellent exclusives to make it a worthy secondary console)

Unless you're planning to buy all your multiplatform games on it then no as the PS3 is going to last longer than the 360 without any upgrades bar that wand thing as the hardware is better.

Leave to a console person to answer the stupid troll giving him attention as to what he wants. How do you even know he is a PC gamer? Besides even he is it doesn't matter he is being trollish ignore him. Console players are turning more elitist of late than the arrogant troll like PC gamers were. I mean you say stuff like that as if console people are little innocent, pure angels and with the pure bile and shit that came out when MW2 fiasco happened that is not the case. To get rid of trolls report, move on and biggest thing of all[HEADING=2]IGNORE THEM.[/HEADING]
Don't turn into them by acting like them.

No, if you already have a 360, don't bother getting a PS3... it has some great titles on it and whatnot, but in the end its just too similar to make it worth the effort.

Instead, get pie. Lots, and lots of pie.

You know you want to...

I was the exact same way just this christmas, trust me its worth it, Uncharted, MAG, God of War, littlebigplanet, infamous, etc, plus blu ray and free online which is good since a lot of your friends have PS3 too, go for it, and since I dont know how to underline words:
----->FREE ONLINE<-----

Side Note: I used to be a 360 fanboy, but once you put them both on the table each has it's own ups and downs, so you probably won't have an interupted gaming schedule, although you may find yourself staying up a tad later than normal.

Well you already have a 360, meaning that you're already getting a ton of the multi-platform games. So, as I try to do in every one of these threads, I will advise the purchase of a Nintendo Wii: it's the cheapest console on the market, there's free online (which is terribly flawed, but you already have Live), a ton of games (don't believe the trolls: there are far more quality titles than they give credit) which are almost all exclusive. Plus, this first quarter looks especially impressive with the likes of No More Heroes 2, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Monster Hunter 3, etc. etc.

If you feel the need to have a second HD console though, a PS3 might be a worthy investment: its games are also getting much better, and it seems to be gaining more exclusives than the 360.

I totally agree with Furioso, there is a good amount of exclusives for the PS3, plus there's Resistance, I liked it but most of my friends didn't. I was having this problem a while back. I thought that I should try and balance out which games I get on which console. I ended up getting only exclusives on PS3 and everything else on 360 because the controller is so much more comfortable
