Is it worth getting a PS3?

So, my question is simple. Is it worth buying a PS3? I have an Xbox 360 already and I am not very keen on playing pc games. I like all sorts of games, so I was wondering if it was worth spending the extra money on the PS3 or if I should stick to the 360 and continue buying games for that.

I hate to do this to you, but I'm working against time with a commercial break.

Yes, go get a PS3. I love mine.

If you can afford to get games for both consoles, yeah. The question would have tipped a different direction a few years ago, but the PS3's future is looking brighter than before.

Well unless you really want to play games like Killzone, LBP, InFamous, Uncharted and Metal Gear, or you want a blu-ray player (does it still do that? Can't remember) or you want to play games that look just that teensy bit more shiny or the extra reliability, then there's not really not much point spending extra for a PS3 when you already have an Xbox 360.

Research the games currently available on the PS3 and the ones that are coming out in the future and decide for yourself. For me, it would be worth it, where as it wouldn't for other people. I can't very well tell you; do your own research.

To be honest? Not really. If you have one or the other it's pretty much decent as status quo. You're not missing out much, but if your Xbox dies for like the 3rd time (as mine has) then it's worth switching over as the PS3 definently has anti-gremlin sprayed onto it during production. Otherwise, stick to what you have, get the multi platform games you can and enjoy the exclusives, as M$ loves to shell out the money needlessly.

If you have the extra cash laying around there really isn't any reason not to.

Yes, get a PS3. In my view it has far better games than the Xbox. Then again it is my opinion. An opinion. OPINION.
Games I have for my PS3...
InFamous
Uncharted Series
Metal Gear Solid 4
Killzone 2
God of War III
Ratchet&Clank Future Series
Heavy Rain
The rest are third party games that are not exclusives.

A perfect answer. If you got the cash go get it. The exclusive are great, online is free and the Blu-ray player is an awesome bonus.

That's the thing, I don't have the money for one at the minute but was planning to save up, but didn't know if it was worth it or whether I should spend that money on 360 games instead

Honestly, if you already have a 360, I would just go for a Wii. It's gotten crappy third-party support, but there are quite a few good Nintendo-made titles with some awesome ones coming out within the next year.

Not to say the PS3 doesn't have some great exclusives, but I personally enjoyed the quality Wii games more than the quality PS3 exclusives.

Just note that you will not play multiplayer on your PS3 if you have an Xbox. Live is slightly faster than PSN, and people actually use headsets often on the former, but rarely on the latter.

Ha! I was about to edit my post with pretty much what you said, basically there's no downside to owning a second console.

at OP: if you don't have the cash right now and want to save up, then you gotta think about whether or not the ps3 exclusive, blu-ray, free online is a plus to you, besides those things the ps3 is no different than the 360

I find it kind of funny that you didn't list either God of War or Resistance.

I personally do not own a PS3 but I heard the first Resistance was really good and Resistance 2 sucked.

What you need to ask yourself is; is there a particular game/games on the PS3 that you think are worth the price of the console and the game? If yes then save up and go for it. I bought a Wii purely for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and seeing how it's the only Wii game I've got, I pretty much paid $400 for it. But i feel justified because I definitely got my moneys worth and still play the game today. Have a think about it, but with games like Resistance, The God of War Trilogy, Little Big Planet, inFamous and GT5 I'd say it'll be well worth it.

Yes. I started with a 360 and then got a PS3 and I like my PS3 better. Reason is because when i see exclusives for the PS3 I get more excited because so far they're much better to me then excusives for the 360. and if you are excited about the motion control crap. Ill just tell you Play station move is going to be way better.

Doesn't sound like you have abundance of cash. You are talking about saving up for a console and then you have to save up for the games itself. In that situation, I would stick to the 360 and just do what you can with it. Microsoft has a huge cashbag that will try to get more exclusives from the PS3 or at least make them multi-platform.
Yea I don't have much money at the minute which is why I thought I should ask people on here to see whether I should save up or if it will be a waste. Hopefully there will be more multi-platform games and less exclusive games for the PS3 so that I won't miss out on too much if I don't get one
