When i start playing MGS5 i was impressed. then soon after i play it more i keep loosing interest. up until mission 21 i gave up. there are only 3 type of missions in this like like escort prisnor x, kill soldier y, disarm the minefield in whole game. world is also very bland.

Its probably one of the most boring and repetetive game ever made and i cant believe how can anyone gave this game a 10???!! a perfect score?! so all my friends and fellow gamers Do you think MGS5 is very overrated?

I think Hitman will own this game badly when it comes to stealth.

what do you think my friends?

Eh, I wouldn't call it overrated considering there were plenty of people that were more than happy to point out the flaws in it such as it's repetitive gameplay but, in particular, the fact that there's little to no story to speak of from a game in a series that - up to this point - has been drowning in the biggest and most convoluted continuous story in gaming history.

One can't deny that the gameplay is fun, but it does indeed drag on for far too long, and that was another flaw that many were quick to point out.

So yeah, I wouldn't call it overrated...the game's current reputation is "mediocre at best due to Konami's fuckery in chopping out very important parts of the game", and I'd say that sounds like a pretty apt description for it.

Yeah, it's pretty overrated.

Not as overrated as Hitman is going to be though.

That's going to easily and without a doubt be the single most overrated piece of media in the course of human history.

Hardly. For every person who gushed over MGS5, there was another who flogged it for its faults. From what I can tell, people recognize it for what it is - A good game with problems.

Probably the most overrated games of this generation, so far, are Witcher 3 and Undertale. I loved Witcher 3, and I can see why others love Undertale - They're both great games. But no game ever created, past, present, or future, could ever be as good as the many people claim those games are.

So far....probably. I mean it got a lot of 9's and 10's in reviews, when the game isn't even finished. I mean for an unfinished game, it's amazing. But I never felt it was anything to jizz on the carpet about.

As long as there's one positive review of it it's overrated. It's a piece of shit. It's only fun in the beginning when it's a real stealth game. It's fun until you start unlocking stuff. Then it becomes not just the easiest thing in the world but the entire goal of the game changes. It becomes a game about abducting people. Everything about that game is unfinished, not just the story.

I don't know. "Overrated" is a term that essentially means "The majority opinion doesn't match up with mine," anyway. Something being overrated is beyond subjective.

Overrated is a term that is dependent on the assumption that there is an objective standard against which a subjective medium can be measured and that any adjudications that do not conform to that standard are consequently false. But as there is no objective standard, and rating games is ultimately a matter of personal preference, it's impossible to declare a game to be overrated or underrated, as any rating is inherently subjective. So, no, I don't think MGS5 is overrated. I also don't think it's an outstanding game (7/10 for me), but that's just one guy's opinion.

I love MGSV but as a MGS fan the game was a huge let down in the story department. You can tell they cut out a massive hunk of the game. There was likely more that 2 areas originally as well as a ton of more things to do but you can tell that Konami wanted to just rush the thing out and really didn't care about quality. I wouldn't be surprised if this is what got Kojima fired (him wanting it finished properly)

it had a lot of good and a lot of bad things.I enjoyed the gameplay and most of the main missions but the side ops were mostly crap. Thy also got really repetitive and the EXTREME, STEALTH, NAKED, etc. versions of the main missions were a waste of time, however I feel the biggest offender was the open world. There was no reason for it to exist, it was big sure, but it was aso empty, there were a bunch of outpost to take and what not but what's the point, they had no purpose behind them, unless you were doing a mission there was no reason for you to do anything in any map add to that the fact that the helicopter becomes the fastest form of traversal because you can skip the giant open empty world... and of course there were 2 other major problems, for me anyways, Quiet and Paz. What was the point of them being there? We never learn anything about them and both disappear without an explanation. While Paz I didn't care much for since Peace Walker, Quiet however was really interesting and mysterious, a great character that I thought we would explore but nope nothing is ever revealed about her, best thing about Quiet is that when you take her back to MB D-Dog is sitting in the co=pilots chair in the helicopter.

For me... yes, definitely.
MGS5 had the power to shatter my love for the Metal Gear series. I found it so cheesy, ridiculous and meaningless that it made me stop and think back to all the other episodes, which I had loved so much, and wonder: "wait. Maybe it always was a bad, cheesy, meaningless series....".
MGS was always cheesy and it never hide that fact. But at the same its very clear that each game has a message so I'm not sure about meaningless.

I don't think overrated is appropriate since it caught a lot of flak once it became clear that tons of story content was cut away. I'd say the game deserve a solid 8/10 (with 5 being average), the story was mostly a let down but the amount of freedom you had in tackling the objective and how solid both the shooting mechanic and the stealth mechanic made up for a lot of it. Ultimately I think game should be judged on gameplay first and foremost and MGS delivered there. But no, its definitely not the best of the main series, possibly the weakest one.

Hum. Might be too early to tell. Usually the "overrated" status is accrued over time, see the film Crash, which is these days considered one of the most overrated Oscar winners ever, like Forrest Gump to a somewhat lesser degree. It's not like the entire gaming public suddenly turns and goes "wait a minute!" See a year later if the general consensus is still the same as it seems to be now, and then ask this question.

Overrated by who?

The general opinion seems to be that it looks fantastic, the action gameplay is terrific, the open-world is flat and uninteresting, and the story is bland and meaningless.

I'd say it's one of the most accurately rated games of this generation.

It's lack of any story was probably the biggest let down for me. I was hoping it would plug all the holes in the MGS story. Instead it did nothing of the sort. The new characters were bland and uninteresting and almost nothing was explained. Most of the actual story was relegated to the tapes. Even after the main villains arc ended (which was a very un-satisfying conclusion), the game just recycled a bunch of older missions but on a harder difficulty to pad out the so called 'act 2', and it was painfully obvious it was unfinished at that point. There was no real story there and not even an acceptable ending to the game.

The gameplay, while amazing, did get repetitive after a while. I also felt the whole forced FOB thing really got in the way of simply playing the game. I ended up just staying signed out while playing. Similarly, the in game economy felt incredibly unbalanced and grindy thanks to the forced FOB system. I never unlocked more than half the stuff with over 70 hours of play, even with mostly A and S ranked people in all my departments.

The whole game just felt underdeveloped. I felt the world was a bit lifeless. I was expecting some dangerous wildlife or some civilians or whatever, but outside of the missions the world map is pretty barren, and the Mother base aspect was nowhere near advertised. The only thing you could customise about the base was it's colour, a far cry from the "every player will have a unique base" thing they promised.

The complete lack of any real boss fights was also a huge bummer, considering they were previously a series staple.

Overall it was a decent game let down heavily by how unfinished it felt in every department, from story to gameplay.

I dunno, it's still a great game. It offers something unique, IMO. It's not something I'm still as hooked on as I was (I tend to play a game obsessively when I get it, and wear out my enthusiasm for a while), but I still like it. I'm in no danger of wanting to get rid of the game.
I like the open world stealth, I like the companions, I like being able to recruit, then play as other soldiers. The music is pretty great, coupled with having your attack helicopter come roaring in blasting "Rebel Yell."
There's the weirdness in the game like the tapes about the burgers, and the PT references.
All in all, I'd say the game's pretty good, and gets a spot among the best of last year.

Is it perfect? No, but what game is?
I'm not a fan of the PVP elements, personally. The FoB stuff is at a "I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole" levels. I mean I like the idea of building a base, and staffing it, but any sudden "You've been invaded!" crap mid mission like the introduction to FoB PVP is going to get annoying to put it lightly.
There's no co-op. I mean, lets face it, it'd be part of a hilarious good time to have your buddy use a squirt gun on a restrained soldier's groin. It'd be great to set up a blitz assault with a buddy to wipe out an enemy installation. It'd be neat to see how a friend does things without having to assault their base, or something like that. New play styles, what sort of staff they have, seeing what their staff member code named "Hungry hippo" looks like.
I'll admit the plot could have used some work, and having Quiet bail on me deflated my enthusiasm a lot even though they fixed it later when they didn't have to.
The resource gathering's annoying, sometimes.

I gotta wonder how much dislike have toward Konami is also going towards the game?

So the general opinion is "It's fun but flawed" and that makes it overrated?

Wow, that's an incredibly low bar.
