Is Night Vision useful in any game?

In sniper mod maps in CoD4, I use the nvg to show me all movement on the opposite side of the map. It's a legitimate strategy!

Sometimes I used NVG in CoD4, just so they could watch me kill them in NVG in the Kill-Cam. Other times, me and my friends would use NVG for fun in CoD4, which would include setting the sensitivity to 10 and random perks and weapons (selected by a blindfolded person who was not playing).

You couldn't live in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. without NV. Especially in Call of Pripyat, which makes you want to curl up at night and sleep by a cozy campfire, with your mates strumming on the guitar and talking about the Big Land...Wait, where was I? Ah, yes, you can't live without NV.

Splinter Cell, of course. Besides that Im trying to think of any other game that I have played where i use it anywhere besides a couple of times in single player...

I've never encountered a game where this mode makes anything easier to see, and was wondering if there were any out there.
Half Life: Opposing Force

Through a couple of sections it's not just useful, it's a necessity as you die super fast without it.

Also, AVP as mentioned, it's pretty damned handy in MGS3: Snake Eater during the Caves and Fury sections as well.

It certainly helps in some situations in SOCOM.
this. it actually wasn't a hassle, it wasn't an advantage really either, if it was nighttime it made it a level playing field really

on cod4 and cod6 i've never liked using it, i find it stupid and all i see is super dark or super bright with no definitions in lines or the walls so no use

splinter cell was pretty good too

TES IV Oblivion...makes everything SO MUCH easier. Trust me, it's 1000x better than a torch, plus it frees up a hand
Agreed. The only reason I stayed a vampire as long as I did was because of the Hunter's Sight.

Once my Illusion skill was high enough for any other night vision spell, I went ahead and finished the vampire cure quest.

Some of the most useful night vision I remember was from Syphon Filter 2.
Holy crap, someone else who played those games. And I agree. The nightvision rifle was insanely useful, as was the H11 with nightvision scope.

It was pretty handy in Splinter Cell. And I like using it in Half-Life 2 and Fallout 3. Yes, I know that someone had to mod that into the game, but I still used it more often than the default flashlight (which was shit in both games).
