I think the general rule should be that if you expect your partner to be clean shaven or trimmed, then you should be willing to maintain the same level of grooming yourself. I don't accept the excuse that it's more difficult or more effort for men to shave.

It's the same hypocrisy as expecting your partner to be in fantastic shape while you sit at home and gorge yourself on junk food. XD

Yeah, that kind of hypocrisy is pretty damn pathetic. If I'm feeling lazy and have not tended the garden in awhile I am not going to get on my partner's case for being lax herself. I think many people are just way too entitled in the bedroom. You're not a special snowflake. No matter who you are, you should be expected to put at least as much effort into the endeavor as your partner is. It's just common courtesy.

Wear a bikini that completely covers the pubic hair next time, then. Pubic hair is part of the genital area, and should not be shown in public or uncensored online.

If there's a gendered double-standard, it's that women are allowed to show off more of their bodies than a male - a guy needs to wear something that spans from the bottom of the hip to the top, while women don't. Males don't usually wear anything that threatens to expose pubic hair, either. A similar complaint would be if a well-endowed male were to complain that he's being persecuted for an image with his junk showing because a man who's smaller down there (Or took the time to tuck it away) can get away with showing the same area sans junk in the way.

That said, there are still sexist issues (Such as taboos about female breasts that are extremely unhealthy for society - a woman's chest is no more obscene than a male's). But genital exposure (Including pubic hair) is not one of them.

I tried looking for pics of a close-up of male pubic hair for the sake of showing pubic hair on instagram and couldn't find anything. Sorry I'm on my phone so it's hard to find some. if you have the time could you give me a tag to search for to see them so I can judge myself?

What you shaving with? A cut-throat razor? Cos shaving down there is far easier than shaving my face ever was. There's no pesky skull getting in the way for a start.

Either you're doing it really wrong or I'm doing it really right because I shave my junk regularly (we're talking, at least once a week) and I've not had a problem since the first time I shaved when I was fifteen - and I shaved it wrong then. It's so easy that I don't even need shaving cream to do it, unlike my face which does require it. And the balls aren't even the hardest part of shaving one's groin! Hah!

OT: It's not to my personal taste, but I wouldn't censor her. Still, a bit of a big deal to make out of this. Maybe it's just me, but I expect both girl and guy partners of mine to be well-shaven and groomed. I don't want to see your pubic hair no matter what giblets you've got down there.

Gillette fusion & while not all that dangerous this is still five really shape blades sliding across your balls which i just found naturally upsetting.
Personally i find that pesky skull is more of help then a hindrance but again i only trim as i also found them five little blades sliding across the adams apple unpleasant although not as bad as the balls.

Well i'm not doing it at all because i trim instead. I'm curious how you managed to shave it wrong the first time & what part you found harder? The one time i did shave the groin went without incident was just the balls felt more awkward to do & took longer.

The double-standard, if one exists, is that much of society seems to think that any criticism of a woman's body is a misogynistic attack, whereas telling a man to pull his damn pants up or put his belly away is fine. The blustery and spittle-projecting rant made by Ms Collins attempting to equate a website going "Fuck sake, put it away love" with some kind of overarching feminist issue that ties together body-shaming and rape culture was just pathetic: overblown, melodramatic clutching-at-straws. She beats us to the punch by admitting that her objection is the very definition of a First World Problem.

Well, aside from finding that particular picture rather unsightly because of the hair, as far as Instagram is concerned I would only agree with removing such things on the argument of such poor grooming making it difficult to properly judge if anything actually obscene might be peaking out somewhere.

As backwards as it it is, an even more revealing picture that involved a skimpier outfit could reasonably be deemed more appropriate if cleanly shaven. It's not that it's actually any more or less appropriate, it's just a matter of handling the review process. Cleanly shaven allows one to very quickly and at a glance determine suitability. A messy muff requires a much closer examination for adequate review, and thus might be more convenient to simply set a policy forbidding it.

Anyways, with that particular picture I can't really see the problem either way, it's not nearly close enough to borderline to merit even such a weak argument.

But, on the grounds of 'ew', I support the decision.

Your welcome to argue that this isn't obscene, and I kind of agree with that, obscene isn't the right word, the picture itself is a little disgusting and fuck you for suggesting I don't get an opinion on this. me being disgusted or not by pubic hair on a woman is an internal process, the fact that it bothers me doesn't affect her at all i'm not a misogynist trying to control a woman's body i'm a sexual person who can have likes and dislikes and just because I dislike something and state that opinion out loud it doesn't mean you have to listen or change your behavior as a result it just means I have an opinion. if I choose not to date someone because they have a sentimental attachment to their pubic hair and refuse to shave then that's my decision aint it?

as a person who enjoys sex I can honestly say I prefer shaved women for practical reasons. I enjoy making my gf happy using only my mouth, I enjoy it a lot, but hair tends to hamper that as you have to stop every 15-20 seconds for a palate cleanser. it just makes my job more difficult so the more often she shaves the more often i'll go down there. For the record I shave too, only fair right, if I expect them to reciprocate I have to as well, plus sex with fully shaved organs on both sides feels SO much better. and it eliminates the hazard of a condom pulling it out on the dismount like they always do.

I do feel the need to mention one woman I met in a strip club years ago, she had long, long long armpit hair, like a good couple of inches. she didn't shave under her arms but she did dye them to match her hair on her head, she was clearly a brunette because her roots were dark brown on both her head and under her arms, but the rest were dyed platinum blonde almost white. I had to admire that decision, not worried enough to shave it off, but worried enough to dye it to match...

i'm not interested in oppressing women over something as stupid as hair, this girl had an instagram account yes? meaning the only people seeing these pictures were people who subscribed to her account, or is that not how it works I thought it was like twitter or facebook but I don't know I don't use it. however if all we're talking about is her followers seeing the pics then why in the hell would instagram come in and censor it, if someone had a problem with it they could just unfollow or whatever. hell I follow some porn stars on twitter and they post to instagram all the time meaning they can't have a very strict non nude policy i'm guessing.
