Basically do you think the band Rush is getting forgotten too soon.
I for one do, Rush deserves more credit than people are giving these days

Is that the one where the singer is the drummer?

*googles and listens to clips*

I would have to say they were not forgotten soon enough!

I'm still not really even sure who the heck Rush is, and they make a LOT of reference to them in the movie Fanboys...and I loved that movie...and no, I won't go look them up, the little I've heard doesn't make me want to.

I listen to Rush every day. They are certainly not forgotten by at least a few people today.

Rush is one of my favorite bands. I'm still pissed- I paid almost $100 for tickets to their show on September 21st in Oklahoma, but I land in London on the 20th.

Fuck.

My brother is a huuuge Rush fan. He owns every CD, the DVDs, the biographies, the books, the shirts, etc. He would give a big fat "YES" as an answer to your question.

But he's also a huge music snob, so make of that what you will.

IMO, Rush is the greatest band ever. I'll do my best to make sure there not forgotten, by passing it on to my kids, just as my dad did for me. That's the key to keeping them known, passing there music on to the next generation.

Now, I think this is called for...

Meh, never liked rush to be honest. Or any of the older prog bands like Floyd and the like. Really doesn't do anything for me.

Wow remind me to never, EVER take music advice from you. Yikes!

Seriously though, Rush is not forgotten. Not by people who appreciate music. ;)

Rush, oh how I love that band.
Yes, I do agree that they are a bit underrated so many people just overlook this band, and dismiss them as just another "old" band. Sad really.

Rush is considered by many well known musicians to be one of the greatest bands of all time. Each member of the band is considered a master of their respective instruments. Heck, Neil Peart is viewed as the greatest drummer of all time. While I say and believe this, I will admit that they are indeed a niche band and their sound wont appeal to a lot of people. If you have an ear for music though, you will appreciate how masterful their songs are from a technical standpoint.

Just a few good songs:

The Spirit of Radio
YYZ
Tom Saywer
Limelight
Working Man
Closer to the Heart

All of these songs are a little different when it comes to their respective sound but each of them is amazing. If you look up YYZ get ready for one of the longest and coolest drum solos of your life. BTW, they are certainly not being forgotten in any way as I just saw them in concert about a week ago. It.... was... AWESOME!! They played for three full hours with maybe fifteen minutes worth of rest in the middle of the show cause they aren't getting any younger:p

Those Canadian senior sitizens rock harder than any band today but, I am also Canadian so I have to go spruce up my shrine to Neil Peart.

Probably THE best progressive rock band of all time, and one of the best rock groups. Genius band members, incredible riffs, you name it...
My favorite band starting in 92'. Been to 4 concerts, have 8 LPs, all the DVD's, and most of the CD's.

People come to my parties and ask:"Man...are you going to play Rush AGAIN?"

I reply: "hell fuckin yes I'm gonna play some Rush, and then you will go down on your knees and acknowledge them as gods".

Underrated? I've only heard them called overrated. Those people got a swift kick to the nads.

He didn't question your taste in music, only acknowledged your ignorance to it. I'm not sure how geddy fairs as a drummer, probably not quite as good as niel peart however.

YOU HAVE SUBJECTED ME TO A TORMENT NO MORTAL SOUL SHOULD EVER BEAR. YOUR CHILDRENS' CHILDREN WILL BEAR A CURSE SO HORRIBLE THEY WILL STOP MAKING BABIES SO NO ONE EVER WILL HAVE TO FACE MY TERRIBLE CURSE AGAINST YOUR SEED FOR HOW MUCH YOU HAVE TORMENTED ME BRINGING UP THIS BAND!

Eh... on second though... they're not that bad. Not very forgettable either and pretty alright. I approve. I'm happy with this thread. Very happy indeed. Good taste.
