In my experience people either worship them or don't care at all.
There seem to be few people in the middle ground.
I quite like them, but "god" status some people give them is ridiculous.

They used to be my favorite band, not anymore though, but that's because all I listen to now is J-pop.

They're very very good at what they do, I just don't really care for the music. I like YYZ, though.

Rush is one of the greatest three-person bands ever. In fact... I can't think of any other really good ones at the moment. I'm a Green Day fan but they're not as good as Rush obviously.

YYZ is a masterpiece.

Wow what...? My opinion is as valid as yours, I can't help it if I like my music to be good.
Well I think Rush is good, you might not and thats fine.
Just out of curiosity, what music do you find to be good?
I usually listen to a mix of underground hip-hop and spoken word. I just love the way the english language can be used to convey such complex ideas in what sounds like such a simple way.

He didn't question your taste in music, only acknowledged your ignorance to it. I'm not sure how geddy fairs as a drummer, probably not quite as good as niel peart however.
I have actually studied music (history and well as other areas) for many years, so I would say that I have quite a vast knowledge of the subject as well as an open mind to all forms of the music. My dislike of a particular artist does not mean that I am ignorant to music as a whole, just that I don't like that particular band/genre.

Is that the one where the singer is the drummer?

*googles and listens to clips*

I would have to say they were not forgotten soon enough!
Wow remind me to never, EVER take music advice from you. Yikes!

Seriously though, Rush is not forgotten. Not by people who appreciate music. ;)

Ignorance? He didn't display any ignorance. Everyone who says that Neil Peart is the "best drummer ever" is displaying ignorance.

I guess there just haven't been that many three-person bands.

I think they are rated exactly as they should be. Wildly revered by people who like prog-rock and pretty much ignored by people who don't. Personally, I fall into the latter category.

If you can name me the original members of the Miles Davis Sextet, then I'll agree with you.

Rush are the greatest Canadian... scratch that, Rush are the greatest progressive rock band ever. I don't think a band with such a stellar catalog of albums could possibly be forgotten in the grand scheme of things.

To be fair to myself, I didn't know that Motorhead was a three-person band. That may make me musically illiterate, but so be it. I never really got into the Police either.

As for the rest of them, you have me beaten. Good job my man.

I'm not a Huge rush fan but that band has serious skillz.

Also the lyrics to "Tom Sawyer" will be stuck in my head forever.

I love Rush, and yes i think they are underrated. Hell they aren't in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame but ABBA is. Rush has recorded like 27 albums, a huge fanbase, and still they aren't in the hall of fame. its so sad.

So this one time I went up north to Canada, and I listened to their radio. I heard no Rush, and I was all like, "Son I am disappoint."
