i can't see a reason for having a ps3 for me, my x360 does great.

however yes i do believe the x360 games are in decline. i would say announced games are lagging off for the next box.

microsoft has a new directx environment they hope will finally kill off the OS they built too well, they need developers to start using it out of necesity thus pushing hardware forward etc.

so in closing new xbox, pushes hardware forward, makes gamers upgrade to win7 if they haven't already, and puts sony under the thumbscrews. i seriously expect they have plans for next holidays since the natal seems to be for these holidays. and how many games does anyone know of in devfor the x360 that aren't either late or mandatory sequels

Better games on the PS3?? are they serious?

Well maybe everyone has different tastes! The only good thing i've heard about PS3 recently is that you get more play time on FF13 as the 360 disc can't hold that much information.

EDIT: If anyone calls me a 360 fanboy because of this i will litterally go on a killing spree!!!!

Reading one or two of your comments makes me think this is border line trolling.
First off... no exclusives? What about, Gears of War 1 & 2, Dead Rising, Halo 3, Halo: ODST, Halo Wars, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Command and Conquer 3, Crackdown, Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant and Fable 2?

Splosion man? Now that right there is a reason to buy the xbox alone.

All good games are on the PS3, surely that is your opinion and not fact.

RROD is hardly a factor any more, I don't know anyone who's current Xbox has red ringed, and the fact that forums are hardly ablaze with threads about it, so I doubt its a factor any more.

I would not be surprised if it was. But speaking as a ps3 gamer, the 360 still has a lot going. If they tweaked it a little so that its stability was that of the ps3 console, i would definitely pick one up.

Your circle of friends doesn't represent the entire gaming community.
well it was my circle of friends and random people at school who I talk to in class. I agree that my circle of friends does not represent the gaming community. I even said so:

see? also, did you notice my title? "Is the Xbox 360 on the decline?" I'm asking because from my observations of the gamers I have come across; they are leaving their 360 for PS3. I didn't title this, "The end of the 360 is near."

AND

the reason I am asking is because I believe that members of The Escapist would be a much better representation of the gaming community than the people I have come across.

Thank you for contributing absolutely nothing.

No, its just the people around you.

Cause while your friends are jumping ship to other consoles, there are others in another part of the world doing the same thing the other way around.

Apart from Infamous, I was really disappointed by the PS3 exclusives since getting it in December and playing most of the high quality games. I still play my 360 more and would rather get multi platform games on it.

PS3 has better console exclusives, 360 has no exclusives.
I'm chalking that one up as opinion. Heavy Rain looks awesome, Demon's Souls looks awesome. That's about all i care about on the ps3. On the Xbox... Alan Wake and Mass Effect (the latter i play on PC)

So exclusives aren't doing it for me.

all the good games are on PS3 anyway
precicely why i simply keep my 360. Most exclusives i don't give a damn about and i play a lot on PC nowadays anyway.

1. Most good games are on both
2. 360 was cheaper (got mine for 100 bucks)
3. Ergo, 360.

so personally? No. If Continuum Shift is still coming out then 360 is doing fine and dandy for me.

As far as the market goes: like it or not, if they market it right the natal is going to sell big time. I'm not saying it's going to be good- dear lord i think it'll crash and burn, but it's going to move copies for the same people who bought wiis. The novelty of it.

That's if it's marketed right, of course.

Cheers to PC gaming.

360 on the decline? No! PS3 has better exclusives? With all due respect not on my planet it doesn't, You can't get Mass Effect on the PS3 and FFXIII is available on both (I have FFXIII on PS3, btw, so not blindly defending the 360, not a fanboy of any console) Better exclusives would be a very subjective issue, imo dependant on the games you enjoy playing, as an RPG'er the PS3 offers less than the 360 and I have way more exclusives on 360 than PS3.

More RPGs? Really? Honestly? Serious? The RPGs offered on the Xbox are laughable at best, and the ones that are good are multi-platform. They didn't get a half ass decent one till they started handing SE blank checks. Gonna laugh so hard when FFXIII verus doesn't got to Xbox or comes in 7+ disc.

Most my friends who had Xboxs, traded their ins or sold all their Xbox stuff off when they got red ring. I am one of the last to have one and haven't touched it in weeks. It's got some decent exclusives, only reason I keep it but if I have to choose, i will take PS3 game any day. It all comes down to person preference.
Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are great games, undeniably RPGs and 360-only.
It's all personal preference, of course, and I'm sure anyone can be happy with either of them, but the 360 had good RPGs.

I made it very clear I thought this was a subjective issue, so in reply to your rather rude response I will say - Yes! More RPG's! Really! Honestly! Serious! The RPG's are not laughable at best they are very good ME, ME2, Lost Odyssey and more. I also pointed out that I have a PS3 and have FFXIII on it, also meaning Versus won't be an issue for me so you can laugh as hard as you like!
You have your opinion, I have mine, don't bother me again if you are just going to be cocky!

The opposite shift has recently occured in my circle of friends. We've switched form the PS3 to the 360. Plus, according to the Feb NPD data, the 360 is selling more.

PS3 becoming the go to system for your average gamer? Humm... well let me think...

A) The 360's tech IS old... :/ and to be honest I'm a sucker for smooth frame rate and long distance views, especially for the RPGs and anything with snipers.

B) I've had a my 360 for a looooooong time it seems.... and to be honest I haven't been impressed at all with the 360's titles, but that's a mere personal opinion. Plus there's all these sweet looking PS3 exclusives that I'm dying to give a try...

C) Most of my friends are on the XBox Live network, and the thing is that I'm more for the single player experience first, multilayer second.

That PlayStation looks mighty tasty right now... for me at least :p

If the PS3 IS becoming more popular then maybe it's a sign of a wave of change to come, call me a critic, but I'm all open for a nice wave of change in the market at this point, things feel kinda stale... :/

I read your title, and I posted what I thought.
You made this thread thinking the 360 was on the decline because some people you know are ditching theirs for a 360.
yes, I did create a theory, but I wanted to test it with more data.

you really should have read the entire post. you contributed nothing other than trying to insult me by re-wording what I said in my first post.

I have a 360 and am happy with it. I have no reason to leave it. BUT I noticed a trend from the people around me, created a theory and wanted to test it.

I'm repeating myself because I have a theory you wont read it past the first line.

I wouldn't say it's declining, it's just on a plateau, ever since Gears of War it's been on a constant level.
Maybe that's why the PS3 is now looking better to people, it's been steadily rising since it's release, though it did release at a lot lower standard than the 360.

O rly?
All those ones I bolded are on PC.
Yeah, he's comparing the PS3 to the Xbox, so I named all the exclusives on the xbox and not the PS3, if you get me.

On the contrary ME2 isn't a good enough game to make the 360 better, also most games on the 360 can be bought on the computer whereas you can't get god of war, heavy rain, infamous, the resistance series, killzone 2 and the uncharted series on anything but the ps3
