A friend of mine has had the hiccups for nearly 3 years, and I was wondering if anyone has any solutions for him. He seems to be in lots of pain from time to time and is on NHS until he gets better.

A vid. of him:

Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

I could be making this up on the spot, but should the opportunity ever arise I intend to try it: blowjob.

I hold my breath until mine go away... but I don't think I could hold it for three years.

By the way, how could you have a friend who had the hiccups for three years? No matter what you're doing, he keeps making the same noise. Waiting at the bus stop, in line for a roller coaster, at a movie theater. Hiccup, hiccup, hiccup. That has got to be annoying.

Hold breath for a while. Make swallowing motions while you're holding your breath. If you hiccup while you're holding your doing this, start over. It sounds ridiculous and stupid, but it's been fool proof every time I've gotten them

My dad always says that hiccups are just burps that can't quite make it out. Tell him to try burping a bunch, and make sure you apologize if women are around.

Sorry demmalition, but your friend could have something similar to the girl in this..

Long term hicups can be linked to strokes, tumors and (aparently) anorexia also. I'd recommend a check up.

Oh I feel so sorry for him! Poor thing. Gah I want to give him a hug. I hope he gets help soon. I think surgery might be the only way to go.

I saw a thing on TV similar to this. It actuqally wasn't traditional hiccups at all, but Tourette Syndrome. He should get it checked out. Also, has nobody else suggested this to him? It is a rather obvious thing.

i dont beleve you but.

taze him with a tazer, it will work.

the hiccups are caused by a muscle that keeps stimulating, if you trigger that muscle then it should stop.

Stand with your back against a wall and your arms in the air. Have a friend pour water into your mouth. And remember to swallow between sips, otherwise it doesn't work. I also find that if you have a hiccup during the drinking process, you need to do it again.

Personally, I would keep going with the hiccups for another fifteen years, because that's a world record and I have this strange obsession with being remembered, which is probably why I bother posting anything anywhere at all.
