Everyone who says doctor or surgery, if you'd bothered to watch the Youtube video, he's tried those. They don't work.

I honestly can't help. His only hope is to get the surgery that makes it easier for him to keep food down and so on, as he mentioned in the video, then try and live with it until doctors find out why we hiccup. That's all I can think of, it seems like the only way at this point. Sorry I can't be of any more help. Try asking Kukul, he's a med. student after all, he may be able to help more than the rest of us can...

If you want my honest to god opinion, surgery. Hiccups are trapped air, that is released through hiccuping, so whatever holes you poke in him are liable to get the air out of him.

Tried that surgery, didn't work. Even tried acupuncture, but the docs there can't cure him. Maybe in the U.S. they could (that "Doctors" show may help him, probably won't) since we are $ over people (No ins. currently b/c the car business closed after 20-some years there =(... )

Let's try all the basic stuff: Holding your breath, drinking water quickly and doing both at the same time.

My personal solution for hiccups, however is: Think about your next hiccup, think about it hard, think "IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, IT IS", get nervous, get prepared... this is normally the point where it just stops for me.
I mean, you get a little *bump*, but then it just seems to stop.

Mass suicide (around 2-100 people) and 12 kittens hanging from a 36 story in cages made from lego bricks fixes anything...

Well at least it does for me... I think

Honestly, all of this stuff above is designed to occupy your brain so that it breaks the hiccup cycle. Many traditional distraction remedies have changed over the years and have evolved into the things you hear nowadays. Hiccups are just an abnormal psychological reaction that doctors have not been able to identify, and it and cycles again and again until the correct brain cells are sufficiently distracted to lose hold of the reflex and stop hiccuping. Sticking electrodes in his brain and lighting up all the bits in order might help. Or not, with the muscular spasms and optical disorientation that comes with firing bits of the brain abnormally.
