Is there too much sex in video games?

Not really. In most games, it seems fitting given the characters and their circumstances. Moreover, rarely (outside of a porn game) does sex cross the boundary of simply being implied. Dragon Age and Mass Effect for example just do rapid cut's as the scene progresses while the Witcher simply hands out a card for each of the player's conquests. Even when uncensored, three seconds with a google search will yield far more nudity.

Of course, restraint and good taste tend to stop once the game makes it into the hands of the players. Mod friendly games (Dragon Age, Fallout, Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights and so forth) feature an utterly disproportinate amount of content where sex (or simple titilation) is the goal. From pieces of armor in Oblivion that reduce a nearly impermiable suit of steel into little more than an aluminum bikini to the common (among all of them) nudity mod, you'll find that MOSt content available seeks to simply inject the notion of sex into the game. Then you'll find that many of these actually have mods that seek to directly inject sex directly into the game, often as a major gameplay mechanic.

I don't have a problem with such things of course. It is worth noting that a "nude mod" (to be fair, this mod goes beyond nudity by actually improving upon the actual model and texture work, and includes an option to keep the undergarments in place) is the 3rd most highly rated mod for Oblivion on the nexus (and even then it's had 50% more downloads than either of the mods that are better rated). One of the many nude options for fallout made it to number two on the list, below a utility for better managing one's mods. Better than half of oblivions top 100 files of all time (again on TESnexus) are directly related to either injecting nudity into the game (male or female), introducing revealing (and entirely useless) armor, introducing new animations and exy poses or introducing sexual mechanics and animations into the game. Fallout on the other hand sees a much more reasonable distribution of "adult" mods (>20% of its top 100 on Fallout3nexus). Dragon Age (yet another nexus site) presents better sex cutscenes as its most highly rated (and downloaded) mod. All this goes to show me is that a substantial portion of the people who played these games belived the experience is better with nudity, hilariously inadequate armor, and virtual sex.

As long as it's not unrelated or a full-on drawn out sex scene. I play games to play games, not get a hard on. If it's for character development (which I haven't seen any games to do character developing sex scenes yet) and it lets you know they are clearly doing it, rather than go into uneccesary detail, then it's fine by me.

There only is in porn games.

The only other examples I can think of are Dragn Age/ Mass Effect, and those have something to do with the charcters and you have to talk to them to get the scene, its not just throwing it at you.

Since when has there been sex in video games recently!? Except Dragon Age, Dante's Inferno and Mass Effect's ten second scenes of near soap opera quality love scenes, sex never really comes round in VGs....

I have yet to see a penis in a Video Game.

So I think it's all good.
I think Dantes Inferno does that.
Alright ill fix that.

Any GOOD Game.
GTA IV: The Lost & Damned.
Yeah.
OT: No, in fact, when compared to other mediums of entertainment, there is pretty much none in gaming.
It's a bit hypocritical, too, we got extreme violence everywhere and Mature ratings, but as soon as sex is involved it's Adults Only.
Not that I really care.

Sex as in rumpy pumpy? Hell no...(rumpy pumpy yes stolen from Tank Girl)

A chick in a itty bitty bikini is not sex in my mind. And if it is in someone elses mind they need to get LAID.

After all, it's our genetic destiny. Impossible to deny that. And to deny that, is to do the impossible.

I only recall Fahrenheit(Indigo Prophecy) having any sex in it. Sex in games is largely implied. But of course the ignorant media take a game like Mass Effect and call out what would best be called a "love scene", as debauchery.

That's an American thing. Gears of War features people getting chainsawed, burned, shot, blown to pieces, tortured and so on. It has an M rating, but if there was a single erect penis in it, then we'd be considering AO rating. Which one do you think would disturb you or your children more: seeing an erect penis, or seeing someone gutted alive with a chainsaw? Think long and hard, and then tell me why people seem to consider the latter the smaller evil in digital media.

EDIT: Oh, and it's a rhetorical question, not one directed at you JourneyThroughHell. :)

Not enough. Why? Because it gets removed because of ratings.

Video game development should be unrestricted, if developers feel like they want to add sex, they should, however because of the rating system, interesting content that might make games potentially interesting is usually cut off.

There's certainlyn too mmuch badly done sex in Videogames where it just comes off as teenage fanfiction take the way most Bioware games handle it for example.

Sex and Video Games............ do not want.

Remember the good old video games of the 90s? No sex there, damn cutscenes today need a pair of jugs to hide the flaws or that game won't sell.

Tank Girl has no right to claim that phrase. It is a common euphemism.
Don't care. If it escaped my ears for 18 years and only popped around by way of TG then it's my only source. If it's common I've never been in the place it was common...like the east side of Urundi Burundi or where ever. So the point?

To true. Yet when people talk about sex in games i like to only keep that in mind to the sex act. Putting attractive females... cute gals in nice outfits. Might stir the thoughts but not the act of sex.

Now are video games showing images that are serving or tending to provoke, excite, or stimulate? That's Provocative and they most certainly are.
