A bunch of people on MAL said this was a good fight scene but personally I don't see it what do you guys think.
Because for a visual medium, there is an obsession with talking through fights to illustrate what people are feeling. It is one of the weird characteristics of anime that is fucking everywhere.Zhukov said:I'm pretty sure it's impossible for anything to be good when surrounded by that overlay.
Seriously though, it seemed well animated to me, bar a couple of instances of ye olde "speed lines".
Hey, what is it with anime and people constantly yelling about not holding back?
Taboo tatoo. Guy gets tatoo that turns out to be a superweapon. I wasn't impressed when I watched a bit of it, mostly because of the characterisation of the girl and of another character that doesn't appear here.balladbird said:What show is that?
Back then? It is a new anime.Liljumpman said:It's good because most anime from around then had garbage fight scenes with still frames, a character disappearing and then someone sheathing their sword.
My bad I didn't watch the video I thought it was a fight I already knew from the still image but yeah you're right it's not.hermes said:Back then? OT: It is decent. Not great, not good, but not bad either. It gets a pass because it is better animated than 90% of the animes out there, and it looks believable enough.
Oh, I know anime characters love howling their motivations to the sky, but I was wondering specifically about the frequency of the "I'm not holding back" thing.Soviet Heavy said:Because for a visual medium, there is an obsession with talking through fights to illustrate what people are feeling. I figure its about dragging out fight scenes. That's how Dragonball Z could have three episodes of three separate fights against Freeza while he's holding back and waiting for Goku to show up.Zhukov said:Oh, I know anime characters love howling their motivations to the sky, but I was wondering specifically about the frequency of the "I'm not holding back" thing.Soviet Heavy said:Because for a visual medium, there is an obsession with talking through fights to illustrate what people are feeling. It's like the writer of the first action anime had just had his mind utterly blown by that "I'm not left handed either" scene in Princess Bride and it's been considered a core element of anime ever since or something.
