I purchased the Collectors edition of Mass Effect 2, which should enable me to special downloads on the Cerberus Network. However I am not allowed to download things on Xbox live because I am 14, I can see why minors wouldnt be allowed, but Mass Effect 2 is an R- 13 game. This feature on Xbox Live is really annoying.

So the question, Is it right for Microsoft to deny me access ato things that i paid for and are legally allowed to play, simply because Im not old enough to have an adult account on Live?

I dont mind the system but i wish it was like, i can only download things that i am old enough for, not "I cant download anything"

Why did you use your real age? Try unlocking some of the Live options to let you download that stuff or try with a parent if they control your account. Always lie, thats the moral here. Also call MS to change it, they should for you. My friend did it for himself.

It's rated M in America, which is where Microsoft is based, which means you play by their rules (meaning no cool stuff until you're 17). I don't endorse lying, but you really should have lied about your age.

No, its not fair, but as many are going to tell you life isn't fair. BUT, that also means you don't have to play fair. When you run into a problem, do your best to come up with a solution. I am not familiar with Xbox live so I don't have any suggestions on how to fix this, but well your parents are adults, so maybe they can help you make your account an adult account.

Somehow the best way of answering your question is by bringing up Saboteur's day one DLC, mainly the one where you unlock da nakidness of ladies.

Is it a mature title? Technically yes, but everyone knows that doesn't stop people (parents, friends, older siblings) from buying it for minors. I guess this is just Microsoft's method of keeping sure that whatever content is applied to a game is properly accepted by a legal adult. legal being the key word there to keep them from getting in trouble down the line.

Oh, and there's the fact that the ESRB states that DLC on a game can have a different rating than the game used to play it, meaning it's technically possible for ME2 to receive an M+ rated DLC in future (just noting a possibility, not likely to happen), which gives MS more ground on the 'only adults can download' stance they seem to have.

It's rated M17+ in the US.
And after all, America is the only country that matters.
Our ratings committees for movies and games need to step out of the 50's and join the rest of the world.

It's OFLCNZ's fault for given the game R13 rating,This is a R18,or M game.

Every country should have just use the ESRB's rating instead of their own.

Mass Effect 2 is Like, a 16-18, not 13.
In New Zealand Its rated R-13
Ahh your from New Zealand as well. Why don't you fake your age, its so easy. Whats even more unfair is that i spent $140 on the Collectors edition of Mafia II and none of the codes worked and I didn't get refunded. On top of that Mafia II was one of the worst games of 2010.

Just lie about your age. Its interesting seeing as I used to when it came to games all the time, then I turned 18 nothing really changed. Same with drinking, only did a little before turning 21, but now that I can just drink for the sake of it, kinda lost its luster.

Enjoy your younger years dammit. :p

Yes it is fair simply because you have a means to circumvent this system in the form of parents.

It would be one thing if you weren't allowed to buy the game in the first place where you live. That would come down to what sort of morals you have on lying and such. But since you bought the game legally (from a retailer I would assume) then there is no reason you shouldn't do what you can to get the content you payed for.

No, don't fake your age because if they find out - and they can and have before - you'll get your shit deactivated.

Suck it up and wait.

I can see your point, however that would mean that i would need to get a new Xbox live account, which i dont want to do since i have quite a bit saved on current Account, i really want have to start from scratch again
