Honestly, if you have to pay for something thats free elsewhere, there is a very big problem there. (Legally of course)
I have played both versions, and I own the xbox version, and I by far prefer the version on the Xbox.

I guess its just me >.>

I don't care if they update it, just get some damn security on it. Hackers run rampant. Its annoying as shit.

I'm sure its not just you, but I'm just pointing out that you can have the same experience(if not better) from doing a few simple steps.

The way to fix this(showing HOW to use Mr. Pandah's idea)
1) Buy a wired Xbox 360 controller.
2) Buy a copy of TF2 on the computer.
3) Download drivers for 360 controller on windows.
4) Download Xpadder(Old, free version. Still works fine.)
5) Configure the controls, Xpadder will show you how.
6) Buy something that allowes you to hook up your computer to a TV. Use it.
7) Up the sensitivity on TF2
8) Play.

Yeah, it MIGHT not be HD, but who really cares? Oh wait...
Thing is, if you try to play with a controller against a bunch of people using a mouse and keyboard, you'll end up very dead.

Free 360 updates are not coming, they had a article about this already, Valve wanted free, Microsoft said no, the updates will probably come to the 360 when ALL the classes have been updated. Why would they release 3/4ths of the content then later do the same thing?

I skipped waiting for the updates by selling my 360 copy and getting the PC version and am much happier for it, sure HL and Portal are identical but TF2 has 1,000x the servers of the 360 version.

But don't you think that would destroy the commomnity for the people who woun't buy the DLC

Personally I didn't expect them to follow through with the content since valve is not a console developer, but no. I don't think that it'll destroy the community, odds are they're waiting for ALL the updates so they can release it all at once, it makes sense and would be best for the system. Honestly I think MS is going to make them separate the hats and make them buy only

Pretty much this.
And when I wanna play local multiplayer I have to get someone else to hook up their computer to another tv? When a mate brings his game round we have to wait and watch it install?

And when you guys want to play you can play it online together and get a headset and a ventrilo server and talk to each other through that. Or you could do your idea.

You say it as if I don't know how much I miss the days of splitscreen. Times are changing. LAN is getting kicked out as well, but we have to adapt to it. Shit happens.

i perfer controlers
Regardless of what you prefer, its still outrageous to have to pay money for something that is free elsewhere.

Besides, you can hook up a controller to your computer anyway. So that is no longer an excuse.
Like, bottled water?

Its not just about preffering a controller, for me at least. I spend time on a computer when I'm at my desk. My desk where I do assignments and study. When I really want to relax, I get away from all that, plonk myself on a comfy couch in the lounge and game on a 42" Flatscreen in high definition.

Oh sure, when I move out of home (and when I'm literally made of money) I can buy all the paraphernalia to get a water cooled top of of the line gaming rig that can connect to a huge LCD and also receive free to air and cable tv channels, but until then I'll stick with my console and controller.
Or better yet, another idea, hook up the controller to your computer and hook your computer up to your TV! Crazy, I know.
Or just let him have his console for bagels sakes.

I think any opportunity to update the 360 is a good one, but I still don't understand why the 360 game isn't compatible with the PC game. The 360 is essentially a windows machine. Just have the option to enable downloading content from Steam servers and connecting to Windows/Linux hosted games and operating along side PC players.

OH WAIT I KNOW - MICROSOFT WON'T LET THEM OPERATE OUTSIDE OF THE XBOX LIVE ENVIRONMENT - FUUUUUUCK

Seriously, who else would LOVE to hook up your xbox and computer to the same network and play THE SAME GAME? What on earth is so fucking rediculous about that? There is no technological hurdle to accomplishing this, only limitations imposed by designers to pressure consumers into buying more of one product. FUCK THEM - OPEN UP THE GAMES SO WE CAN PLAY PC VS XBOX

If I could do this, you'd better believe I'd have a 360 tomorrow. I'd pawn almost everything I have and I'd go get one ASAP.

So I adapt by not using the local multiplayer when its available, and instead paying for a headset and an additional service on my computer? That sounds an awful lot like having to

doesn't it? ;)

Look, both of us prefer different things. Neither of us is 'right'. You prefer playing on a PC, I prefer the console. Thats what we both enjoy, so there is no point in trying to convince me that I'm not having fun and would be better with a PC.

But, if you prefer using a controller and would also like the free content, you could have them with a PC. That's all he's saying. If you like your console so much that you wouldn't want to leave it behind, it looks like you'll be going without the updated content, for a while at least. I can't tell what you people are arguing about anymore. And as for split-screen vs lugging your computer monitor keyboard and speakers to a friends house, see my previous post about PC vs XBOX computing and why it pisses me off that microsoft won't enable this
