Tell her to go F' off and learn what tolerance actually means. Just because you do not find darker skin (be it black, Mediterranean, South American, etc) attractive on the sexual scale does not mean she has the right to punish you.
I'd write an article on how "people of color" seem to believe that their past should be taken into consideration, how much suffering they had to endure, and how they seem to think that word usage should dictate situations in which no offense was truly taken. She can't handle the truth or how you feel? That's her blemish.
I would like you to explain yourself, your statement, and your intentions...sir or ma'am.
It's true. Some people of color (whomever we are speaking about, specifically that is) seem to think that racism coming from a white person is of a greater level of offense than it is when it comes from a non-white person. They act as if the white person is in a position of lesser knowledge of the truth about racism. Guess what? His teacher displayed it to the fullest extent without acknowledging it and putting all the blame on him.
Colored people? lol
Feels like I just traveled to 1960.
you needed to be told a politically correct term? Now I know you didnt mean to be racist with your paper. smh.
But White skin does sound racist. Fair skin, cool. White skin sounds like..."No Darkies"
Are you denying Asians, Hispanics and Blacks have colored skins? Hilarious! What should we call it then? I don't know any other word for color than color.
Again, "Racism is the belief that there are inherent different traits in human racial groups which justify discrimination.".
Calling people black, white or yellow is not racism, don't be ridiculous.
Miss me with the Bs. You know damn well Colored people is an incorrect term. Nobody says Im dating a white skinned girl. Do you describe your girlfriends by skin color? shes white skin? shes black skin? Theres other terms for it.
Yellow isnt racist? lol Okay, You move along sir. Go to an Asian person and call them Yellow man.
I would describe my girlfriend by her ethnicity since that is a lot more accurate than skin color. But please do tell, what other terms for white, black and yellow do you know? Pink, gray and orange?
If I went to an Asian man and said he was yellow I would be stating a fact (it wouldn't make much sense to do so though since I'm positive Asians are aware what skin color they are). Please, I'm eagerly awaiting to hear how stating a fact is racist. Remember the definition of racism!
Racism is the belief that there are inherent different traits in human racial groups which justify discrimination.
I'm sorry, but nowhere does it say that saying person X is color Y is racist.
Well being a person of color. Ive said that a girl is "White" but not shes whiteskinned? she has a tan, shes pale. Youre playing the politics of the word. You know exactly what it means and how its used. With Black people, theres BROWN, Light BROWN, DARK brown. Ive even heard white men refered to as "Tall, dark and handsome." Theres an answer. Are you going to say that isnt real? But like I said, keep the bs moving. Youre not worth speaking to when you dont see the indecency of calling someone yellow skinned.
Oh don't even bother. No matter what you do people will find a way to get offended when you are talking about anything that has to do with skin colors.
Why do people choose to get offended so easily? People like being uptight I guess.
Oh so now you've changed it from 'racist' to 'rude' since you realise you have no argument at all. I indeed think it's rude to call someone by their skin color since it serves no purpose, "Hey white guy come over here!", "Hey yellow woman what do you have for sale?".
But that doesn't change the fact that saying person X has color Y is not racist in any way, shape or form. Neither is saying "I am attracted to white girls.", "I am attracted to big black men." or "I am attracted to skinny purple people." racist.
One thing I do like about this topic is it shows how people really feel.
Personally I wouldnt care about a kid writing whiteskinned on a paper.
But Pale sounds more appropriate. And its easy to speak on stuff you arent experiencing.
Saying stuff like its just skin and etc. Theres history behind it.

You knew exactly what I meant. Yellow man is a term deemed racist. Regardless of the definition.
Shoo along now. If you called me a black darkness bastard , coming from a white guy it would be coined racist.
Tell her that you are well within your rights to have sexual preferences, if you are as old as your profile says you are old enough to tell her what you mean and discuss it further like adults if she wants.
Assuming you've lied about that then take the second posters advice.
Also, call her out on her blatant homophobia for not asking what you find attractive in the same sex.
Sounds like a classic knee-jerk reaction. Yes skin colour is determined racially, sure, but so are things like height; hair colour and texture; eye colour; and so on. You know, all physical traits have a genetic component.
Am I racist if I find green eyes attractive? Is it racist against pygmies to find tall people attractive? No it's a sexual preference.
I can't believe she wouldn't listen to your explanation either... that is totally ridiculous, because schools are supposed to shut down communication and the exploration and defense of ideas /sarcasm.
OP: no, that's not racism. That's preference. It's a preference that just happens to favour half a dozen Germanic, a few Norse, several Western European, a couple of Celtic, numerous eastern European and quite a few Oriental (is that a racist word now?) "races" over some others.
Oh, so very pretty. Skin oh, so very nearly white. It's whiter than much of mine, and I'm an Anglo-Saxon, one of the evil demons of racism, KKK- and Nazi-approved.
Ask her whether liking red hair is racism.

You cant choose who you're attracted to. Turn it the other way around, if you were mainly attracted to black people (or asians or anyone else non white for that matter) would people be calling you a racist?
Apparently yes. Jennie Breeden of The Devil's Panties has been in that situation. "Yes, My body is RACIST"

3. The teacher or whoever proposed this test should be punched in the face, cause seriously, if your going to make people fill out a form, you shouldn't blatantly start punishing people for giving their honest opinion unless the form was meant to be a trap in the first place, where in the person responsible still needs to be punched in the face for pushing that on regular people.
Also this. It seems to me that your teacher was out to entrap someone, looking for a chance to say: "Ah-hah! See the racism endemic in the white population!"
If she wants to teach the psychology of physical attraction, she ought to be looking for why based on childhood experiences, family size, family make-up, upbringing, cultural exposure to females of various skin colours in various roles and so on, not punishing you for taking part in the lesson. That's really shitty behaviour.

My advice, for what it's worth: Be a d*ck about it and write the paper on how humankinds natural tendency to trust and like people who look like themselves, affects who we are attracted to romantically and physically (with a focus on skin color of course), and how we might never overcome this barrier - but how peoples obsession with small stuff like that undermines the focus on the very real issues of racial hate and discrimination, by fogging up the racial debate and filling it with non-issues.
It's the same as our tendency to side with our children or siblings against cousins, with our family against other families and so on up to siding with our own species against other species and everything else does it too. Long-tailed tits feed their own chicks first, then those of other long-tailed tit couples, then those of other tit species nesting nearby, which kind of bothers the coal tit parents, but they deal with it.
On those forms that ask for your race so they can keep track and make sure they're not discriminating (bullshit meter twitches) I like to tick "other" and write in "human" or "none of your business" but, ironically, that does not lead to job offers.

Also, props for the selfcontroll to not answer with a joke like "I prefer my women like i prefer my whiskey, 12 years old and mixed with coke" or something like that
Actually, I like my whisky at least 18 years old, from the Scottish Highlands, pure and straight.

Your teacher assigning a punishment for saying an honest opinion is basically giving the message that you should lie in order to fit the "norm" just so you can get a good grade.
Again, "This!" I'm starting to feel everything's been said for me already.

If your school won't do anything about it, you'll have to take the school to court. But a judge would refuse to hear the case based on such a light punishment.
According to a woman I met, the most common inter-racial pairing in the USA is white male and Asian female ... and I'm twitching at the lower-case w and upper-case A already ... and the least common in an Asian man with a black woman ... and, yeah, lower-case b and sorry if that offends ... because in some cultures "out there" men expect women to be meek, submissive and obedient and black women in the USA are not often that.
Ah, Japan, ahead of the whole world in technology and economic development and right at the back on gender equality, how we love and loathe your varied porn.

Please do notice that stating facts cannot be racist. Thank you.
Well, for starters, they are not YELLOW. A lot of Asians have white skin, even if their facial features are different. Some others have brown skin, so NOT yellow. So, calling them "yellow" may or may not be racist, but it is definitely innacurate.
One thing I do like about this topic is it shows how people really feel.

Because some people judge others by their skin color does not mean that 'skin color' is a bad word. It means those people are bad people. But sure, if you want to call white people pale, it might even be more accurate since there are almost no 'real' white people. Neither are their pure black or pure yellow people. Those are just generic names for people of similar skin tones.
If you called me a black darkness bastard , coming from a white guy it would be coined racist.
That would not be racist, it would be an insult. If you were pure black and emitting darkness, saying you are 'black darkness colored' would be accurate however.
As for the yellow, I know Asians are generally not yellow but that is irrelevant for my point.
You knew exactly what I meant. Yellow man is a term deemed racist. Regardless of the definition.
I am sorry but I refuse to accept incorrect definitions of the word 'racist'. Yellow man would not be completely accurate but it would not be racist. I couldn't care less whether some people think it is racist, since they are just wrong.
Colored people? lol

I indeed know stupid people use the word 'racist' incorrectly, but we're not talking about people who twist the meaning of racist here, are we?
racist = ****** (this is a derogatory term used for black people)
insult = bastard (this is a normal insult)
inaccurate = yellow man (this is a fact, albeit inaccurate)
accurate = brown person (this is a fact)
"Black people are only fit for slavery." <- This is blatant racism.
"You have a dark brown color." <- This is stating a fact.
I have thought about this since my preferences seem to lie in the same categories. I do not think this is racist at all since there is no prejudice, you are not making an assumption based solely on their race, it is just a preference. Also, I think that not only is it extremely inappropriate for a teacher to ask their students what their sexual preferences are; but it is even more inappropriate to then make judgements based on those preferences.
I think it's actually in our code to be anti-racist, especially when it comes to reproduction. Novelty is an important factor and different races (back then) were nothing if not novelty. On the other hand we had an inset tribalism which is probably what stirs up racism today.
Well here's the thing: back in the hunter-gatherer days the most attractive person was the person with the most "normal" features(more "normal" the "better" your genes are). When you are a baby, that is your mother who is the same skin-tone as you. As you got older that would stay with you. Therefore, if you encountered a different race, the logic is "that isn't normal and has terrible genes". For the most part that seems to be staying with us today(hence why races still exist).

First off how is "colored people" racist? If you had reversed it to "people of color" to describe "all non Caucasians" certain over sensitive Individuals wouldn't have opened their mouths. I don't see a problem.
it's not racist it's just a preference otherwise being more appealed to someone of the opposite sex would be racist against homosexuals
u should try writing the report about how it wasn't racist and actually support that with arguments and if the teacher rejects it go to any teacher or principal who isn't insane
Hell yeah it's racist! How dare you leave out all the sexy ass Black, Asian and Hispanic ladies!
Seriously though, no it's not racist and your teachers an idiot for thinking otherwise. Reminds me of when some singer (john mellencamp I think) said he didn't find Black Women attractive and everyone threw a fit claiming he's racist. What you don't find attractive you don't find attractive. I don't find a vat of goo attractive does that mean I'm racist against slime people?
I'm curious as to what race your teacher was too. I'm going to guess White since White people seem to make the biggest deal out of the smallest things, though if she's not you can always throw it back in her face about how it's automatically racist since it's coming from a White man (assuming you are one.) Or she's jelly.
That said, you can have your boring ass white chicks I'll take the fun ones
A lot of people in this thread have a confirmation bias that says "People are over sensitive and politically correct", so they're assuming the teacher's overreaction was genuine and that the poor OP was mistreated. I have a confirmation bias that says "People are liars", so I don't fully trust the OP's recounting of this sad tale.
