By that I don't mean insane or totally warped like a cannibal or psycho killer. Just not in it's natural state.

Advertising - twists your mind subtly, affects your views towards materialism, what 'good looking' people should look like, gives you a host of neurosis about problems you don't have.

Porn - affects how you think about women and sexuality in general.

Bad tv shows, radio, polical campaigns, religious sermons etc - All these people have an agenda, which is money and power

Community - You may live in a narrow minded community and it works out better for you to be narrow minded as well if you live in that community. To a larger extent, the same groupthink/ideals as your country.

Parents - Imagine your childhood self as drying cement/tabula rasa. At an impressionable age, you have no reason to doubt your parents even if they 'lie' to you.

I don't see how it's possible for someone not to be 'twisted' in a way unless they were born in a isolated monastery

No, I'm twisted in that insane or totally warped way. A normal thought involves someone's face getting cut in half for me...

My mind is pretty messed up from my experiences in this life. Luckily I'm fairly intelligent and am able to deal with these 'demons' so that they don't detract from daily life.

I feel like everyone is in some way, in regards to your parents, children are like art, they can end up a master piece, but most people suck at art and that's why we have so much crime.

When I read the depressing part os Jack, I can't help but giggle for some reason.
There's many other problems I have with sanity(or my lack thereof), but overall I don't let it affect my actions.

I could be twisted, but then again, I've seen plenty of porno videos and I don't think of women as mere sexual objects, I just think sex would be a fun thing to do with a woman, so, maybe I'm not twisted.

Oddly enough, me too. I'm perfectly capable of rational thought and logic, but I'm so emotionally detached it scares me, and I write fiction about psycho protagonists. My current project involves a psycho with incestuous love for her brother, a pair of characters who are arguably uncurably insane and murdered their respective families together, and the most sane of the group is sexually confused and tried to kill another character who apparently murdered her grandmother. Oh, and she ends up contemplating murder-suicide with that same character, her on-off girlfriend, much later.

I wrote a review just now of Shutter Island. The apparent 'thrills' in the otherwise good film did little to shock or 'thrill' me. I have no fear of gore or blood. I have a curious fascination with fire and with knives. I would love to be psychologically tested by a proper psychiatrist purely for the opportunity to fuck with their mind and have a laugh messing them around. I also love the macabre and have a very dark sense of humour.

In short, though I'm apparently sane, I am also extremely twisted and have a very fucked up mind...

What with being severely cynical, depressed, lacking in confidence and generally fucked up from witnessing at a young age my also depressed father kill himself - I would say my mind is probably twisted to some degree.

Ahh, if I were to write a book it'd involve the Muffin Empire working to fight against the evil Burger King-dom and the Fast Food Empire. It'd be awesome...

That sounds like an interesting story though. I have a fun little obsession with knives too and while I don't exactly like gore, most of it doesn't bother me (I just can't stand anything involving the tongue or achilles hill, or eyes... A Clockwork Orange was horrible to watch for me.)

I have a rather dark outlook on life and humanity as a whole and have a dark sense of humor too but I'm not going around wishing to kill every living human either (Though I've imagined how to effectively start a school shooting before, just for the fuck of it.) I figure as long as it stays within the mind it's fine.

I accidentally when I pick up something like a steak knife to cut my food, I have disturbing thoughts that make me want to immediately put the knife down.

Is this bad?

If someone told me that I was "twisted", I would agree with them. It's hard not to be twisted in today's society. Not that being twisted is a bad thing, after all. If we are all twisted, then we are all normal in each others eyes.

Twisted...

Of course, everything in life twist and molds your personality and way of thinking in some way.

On the porn thing, yes it does twist your mind. Maybe not exactly in the way you have mentioned, Eukaryote pretty much explained that pretty well.

I laughed uncontrollably during Tokyo Gore Police, if that answers your question.

Although, I have a feeling the viewer is meant to do that.

Hey, can you let me know if you get that book published? Sounds interesting.

On Topic: probably. But I'm still a moral person, with some ideals considered "old-fashioned" by friends.

I think by twisted you mean bias... but either way I suppose, yes. The thing is, I see the world as a series of comparisons. There is no definitive factors for having any sort of bias one way or another; we are all just a combination of things that create a personality. How that personality is judged socially is something else entirely.

We could possibly be twisted, but then again if we were truly twisted then wouldn't our puppeteers have some sort of backup plan to keep us from noticing the strings that they have wrapped around our lives? I mean, nobody brilliant enough to hatch a plot as dastardly and devious as twisting the minds of the masses would leave evidence behind right?

[sub]Well, unless you're this dumbass.[/sub]

So you have to ask yourselves, are you really as manipulated as you think you are? Was that Twinkie you just ate manipulated into your mouth? Was that man you just saw coming out of your mother's bedroom, half-naked, a figment of the imagination TV gave you?! Sorry about leaving my socks by the way. Or is it just natural human paranoia that's causing you to believe that your perfect suburban life isn't as perfect as you believe it to be.

[sub]These people actually live above a nuclear silo.[/sub]

No matter the answer. A sharp mind, if you're retarded then your fucked, and sound body will be more than enough to keep you from being easily manipulated...

[sub]That's strange I feel like getting Firefox. Right now.[/sub]
