Ok guys, my xbox has finally died. It has RROD's on me. I looked up the secondary error code (Sync button and Eject)[0102] and that says its a GPU problem.

I really don't want to send it off just before christmas, so I've been thinking about doing the Towel Trick.

Would this work? Or just be better for me to buy an Arcade console and switch my HDD over?

Thanks all.

When my first Xbox failed on me, I just bought the arcade and switched over my HDD. I have not had any problems yet with it.

The whole towel trick is a temporary fix. Soon it will stop working.

If it's still under warranty send it in. The towel trick is for soldering mishaps and a new 360 is quite a bit of money.

I hear the towel trick will cause your xbox to go RROD every couple of weeks. But hey, I never tried it.

If you do that, doesn't it void the warranty? Just play it safe and send it off, it doesn't take that long.

I don't know. The towel trick has worked for people I know. What's stopping you from doing it? If it doesn't work you could just take the other option and buy an arcade like you said.

I don't know a lot about the risks of the Towel trick, but it has worked for some people.

I have tried the towel trick before, it does work but it is only a temporary fix, so yes you'll have to send it off or like you said, buy an arcade system and swap the hard drive over

You got laid!?

You should send it off, it shouldn't take more than three weeks so you should get it back before your Christmas vacation.

Yeah i did this. If you have any dowloads on your HDD they wont work unless you are online. I had sonic, burnout and everything on my HDD when i had my Pro. Now it says i only have the trails unless i go online! My arcade functions much better than the pro, its quieter and you can see the differnce in loading times.

It'll be back in a week or so.

Plus, if its still under warranty, it'll be free.
Hell, it'll be free even if it's NOT under warranty. I sent my xbox in for repairs due to RROD a year after the warranty expired, got it back, it worked perfectly and I got a motn of Gold to boot.

Wow, thanks for the rapid responses guys. My main question is, will the Towel Trick still work on a GPU problem?

why would you buy another xbox when you would easily get your xbox back in just a little over a week? and for free?

Seriously buddy, just send it off.

Instead of using a temporary fix that might not even work.

When I ROD'd micro$oft where surprisingly good about the whole thing. I sent it off and got the console back less than a week later, with 1 months free gold members subscription. So yeah, send it.

i heard that some of the older 360s had a bad power brick and switching it out resolves RROD. but i can't confirm it.

You would think that Microsoft would make Xbox's that don't have this issue. Ah well, the future tech is always too far away.
