I had 2 RRODs, one broken disc-spinning part, and one broken disc reader. On my 5th xbox (this one, I bought from the store, though). I'd get a PS3, but at this point, I'd have to rebuy like 50 games.
realisticly, no. it may be a temporary fix if it works, but even if it does work for you it could only work for a few days and not several weeks as your probably hoping.Kushin said:Wow, thanks for the rapid responses guys. My main question is, will the Towel Trick still work on a GPU problem?
its called jasper, and its been available for several months. pretty much every one out there today is a jasper unit as well.Kriptonite said:You would think that Microsoft would make Xbox's that don't have this issue. Ah well, the future tech is always too far away.
So it may actually be advisable to buy a new arcade console? Rather than get it repaired and have potentially defective hardware, get a new one with a much lower chance.ratix2 said:its called jasper, and its been available for several months. pretty much every one out there today is a jasper unit as well.Kriptonite said:You would think that Microsoft would make Xbox's that don't have this issue. no, because when you send it back your likely to get a jasper back, so you get a jasper and you dont have to buy a new one.Kushin said:So it may actually be advisable to buy a new arcade console? To be honest, the towel trick is only a temprary solution, you're going to have to send it in at some point anyways, the more time you waste deciding could be used for sending the damned thing off. A buddy of mine sent it off and got a new one a week later.Kushin said:Wow, thanks for the rapid responses guys. My main question is, will the Towel Trick still work on a GPU problem?
even if it isn't under warrenty..RRoD is a Microsoft manufacturing problem, they fix it for free..mine was 3 days over warranty, when i got the RRoD..just do it online from the xbox website..it'll say $90...but they give you a shipping label to print off..that takes care of all costs..you can even cal them to confirm that..it's what i did..but my buddy did the towel trick for awhile and it worked half the time..honestly..send it in..mine took 2 weeks to get back to me...keep in mind it went across the country..and got stuck in Salt Lake for about 4 days...Kushin said:Ok guys, my xbox has finally died. It has RROD's on me. I looked up the secondary error code (Sync button and Eject)[0102] and that says its a GPU problem.
I really don't want to send it off just before christmas, so I've been thinking about doing the Towel Trick.
Would this work? Or just be better for me to buy an Arcade console and switch my HDD over?
Thanks all.
