I only care about Prototype. Why? Because I hate console exclusives... haaate.
PC exclusives are fine.
Isn't that a bit...hypocritical?

Wow, lot's of console hate from the above post. My question is, why?

Can you not afford one so you're super pissed that you can't buy exclusive games? How do you think people with bad computers feel when something grand for the PC comes along?

That's not me though. I've got my PC, PS3, and a love for games ranging all different categories. Can't we all just get along?
*facepalm* You are really thick, are you? I was joking for fuck's sake.
Sorry man, I meant to quote the post below yours.

I got lots of friends with PS3, so i guess i can just try Infamous when i'm at their house.

I'm planning on getting prototype for my PC after someone told me, that i can play it witha 360 controller if i buy one of those (the game just looks like the type of game i prefer to play with a controller)

U kniow what wouyld be awesome? if you could weld those 2 games togeather, and play them as an open world super hero co-op game

Well from what I have heard inFamous and Prototype apparently have different play styles, different to the point that playing one doesn't mean you have played the other.

Both seem really fun, but the reason why they seem similar to me is because they are both running with the idea of "who wants to be a super hero?"

Now inFamous seems to have gone into the direction of duality or "what kind of super hero are you?" But that has it's problems with the fact that you can only get the maxium level of powers by being at one end of the scale or the other. Though good got cheesed with that stupid charge attack.

Prototype seem to have gone down the tragic or anti-hero road of "the world hates me so I am going to destroy it." To be honest Prototype seem like a game that was made by some one that said "Hey, what if we take the openness of GTA4 and combine it with the combat system from Devil May Cry 4?" Now that is just what it seems like to me, I can be wrong, but it doesn't seem like an overall bad idea either.

But for the most part they both seem like fun games and it is pointless arguing over them when you could be playing them. Which is what I am going to do, still have to complete the evil side :p

2)Infamous has received better reviews. Mixed with above point and you get a lot of bitchy fanboys for the 360 who suddenly realise their idea that they have more/better exclusives no longer flies.
One exclusive doesn't change the fact that both systems have good exclusives. If you really think inFamous changes that, then your more fanboy than you know.
More the fact the 360 is loosing it's exclusives very quickly (Fallout DLC), leaving it with few exclusives of quality.
360 fanboys don't like how things look now, as the PS3 is coming out on top. Again backed up with the fact PC owners don't care about Infamous VS prototype.
actually 360 owners are fine with how things look now, we've got the games we want, the controllers we want, the prices we want. If you elitist pricks really want to split hairs over graphical differences that aren't even noticeable, and wave a big victory flag for an exclusive, that's fine by me. But try to keep the "PS3 iz teh TopP ConSOLL!" shit to yourself.
Congratulations for announcing yourself as a fanboy.
The PS3 is technically better than the 360 in almost everyway, and it is becoming apparent that it has better games/actual exclusives other than timed exclusives.
If you weren't a fanboy you wouldn't care at all about the Infamous vs Prototype, but it's the fact that Infamous is showing the 360 up as being a bit naff which is causing the fanboy whining. So less whining, and more apathy towards the whole thing if you're not a fanboy.
It's funny, you obviously never read my post. You mention whining several times, so I am thoroughly convinced you haven't the slightest idea what that word means. My post said that I was content with my 360's games and controllers and graphics; I closed saying that if ps3 owners wanted to congratulate themselves for owning what they see as the better console, then that's fine, I simply implored you to keep the "technically superior" shit to yourself. This is not whining, please do yourself a favour and read the entire post several times until you understand it enough to respond.

In conclusion:
1. I own a 360
2. I'm happy with it.
2. You own a Ps3.
4. You're happy with it.
5. I don't care how much better you think your console is, as I am happy with mine.
You don't seem to get.
If 360 owners were happy, then why are they the ones saying it shouldn't be a competition? I've yet to find a PS3 owner who says that, as they will admit that the two games are undeniably very similar. They aren't "congratulating themselves for owning a PS3", but just saying that, according to the reviews, Infamous is better than Prototype - two similar games. So if they had to buy one, they'd buy Infamous. Very reasonable and rational thinking.
They are very similar, so obviously they will be compared. Why does it matter? Why should two similar games not be compared?
Would seem stupid, imagine if Call of Duty and Medal of Honour had not be compared to one another back in the day.
The only people whining about it are the 360 owners. Conclude from that what you will, but it doesn't seem rational to not compare two similar games.
Again, I must implore you to read the actual posts, your ignorance is exhausting me. First of all, I never said anything about comparing or not comparing games, so your entire reply doesn't relate to my post at all. Secondly, reviews do not decide whether games are good or not, that is up to the individual, furthermore, I wish I could buy infamous as it looks like a fun game.

All you talked about was yourself, and that you are happy with the 360, defeating any point of a general discussion about the communities reaction to these two games.
My ignorance?
Topic in post: "It shouldn't be a competition! InFamous and Prototype"
"I never said anything about comparing or not comparing games"
Right. And you're posting in this thread why?
I'm not talking about you specifically when I say 360 owners, I'm talking about the people who don't want to admit the two games are similar. As for it being subjective whether a game is good or not, that is true, but it can't be denied whether one game is generally seen as being better than another, which some people want to try and do. I'm not saying you are one of the whiners, but your reaction has been very aggressive towards the topic at hand.
My reaction has not been aggresive to the topic at hand, because shortly after our conversation began, you de-railed it by saying how the ps3 "was technically superior." You changed the conversation when you brought fan-boy prejuidice into the thread.

I don't get why console fanboys complain so much, anyway. Every single of the latest generation of consoles have been nigh PC copies anyway, with online play, LAN (linking several Xboxes together with several TVs, for example), special online services and the same games the PC traditionally gets (I'm looking at you, RTS genre). They also play DVDs and you can buy movies online for them. Do they play music too? I don't have any of the latest consoles but I can imagine they either can, or will be able to in the next console upgrade struggle.

Just call all of them non-upgradable PCs with slightly different focuses and get it over with.

/slight trolling, yet also truth

About Prototype vs Infamous, I can't say I care in any way. Since I have a PC I got Prototype and it's god damn awesome. Especially once you complete it and unlock the plus-mode play, where you start over with all your previous powers intact. The ones calling Mercer a superhero, though, must have missed the part where he eats people alive and absorbs their identity, plus a whole bunch of spoilers and TWEEESTS the story/web of intrigue will tell you.

Infamous seems great fun as well, but no PS3 = no Infamous.

Anyone else reminded of the Half-life 2 vs. Halo 2 flame wars of old? Two games kinda-sorta similar to eachother, exclusive to different platforms, with incessant whining of one's superiority over another despite both being good games...

Good times, good times...

They both look unbelievably poor, in my opinion only. That brand of sandbox city game (a la GTA, Crackdown etc) always has me bored to tears in a matter of half an hour.

"You're only angry 'cause you wish you were in my position!
Now nod your head because you know that I'm right. Alright!"

That sums up 90% of the bitching about Infamous.

Honestly, while neither are very appealing, I do have a thing for lightning powers ever since the force unleashed.

As far as this "competition" between inFamous and Prototype and which is the better is concerned it should be dropped because there's always going to be stuff like that when similar like games come out GTA and Saints Row is a big example....and as far as people making their decision's based on OTHER people's reviews y'all might as well hand your brains over to them because all a review is is that particular person's opinion of said game. If that game interests you personally go out, buy the game, play it and make your own decision, dont like it then take it back to where you got it from. As for all this console bashing retardism again totally bullocks. I own a 360 and have played Prototype and i enjoy it, i do not own a Ps3 but i have found ways to play inFamous and i did not like it to well. Granted the fact it's an exclusive and that i dont have the monies to get a PS3 does take away a little bit of its jazzy sparkle but i wont give a "i hate this game becasue its a console exclusive" speech because of it. To sum it all up:

1. both Cole McGrath and Alex Mercer have an abnormal power
2. Both take place in an "open-world" sandbox.

Why am i getting this feeling i will be misquoted majorly on this.

first off, I agree with you in the most part/

Second, I MUST take exception to a certain point; I have won MANY pissing contests.

As someone who played both games, I can say i liked prototype better. My friend has a ps3, and we tried out inFamous at his house and he came over and played prototype. The whole good vs. evil thing didn't work too well and the fact that cole mcgrath ("hero" in inFamous) is sort of a one trick pony compared to alex mercer who has too many powers to count. I liked them both, but for what they are, prototype is a better option.

Well, I own prototype on PC, so, i'm clearly superior to you ALL!
/joke

One thing that bugs me though, is people saying prototype has bad or meh graphics...
SERIOUSLY!? I grew up with consoles like the NES and Genesis/megadrive, both prototype AND infamous have got amazing graphics.

Children these days... Spoilt creatures.

Yeah, I don't get this either. It's got amazing graphics! New York looks like, well, New York!

I got [Prototype] for the PS3. I played the inFamous demo and got bored to tears in it so completely avoided it. What kind of fanboy does that make me? :s

The comparisons are inevitable, given the similarities (sand box wiv super powers) and proximity of release. Both are a right barrel of laughs from what I've played (only an hour or so on each) so it seems pretty pointless trying to decided which is the bestest. Wont stop the fan boys, of course.

Okay somthing ive leaned about people is that they will allways be able to find somthing to fight over even if the fight makes no sense and telling them to stop makes em cry even louder.
