It Would Never Be Set There

Okay, this idea started when me and one of my mates started talking about a setting in a game that was never used before.

The idea expanded and now, what do you think would be the one place in a game that has never been set in a game before.

Currently the winner I've thought of has been... Ireland.

This can be different time periods too.

There hasn't been a game set in Ireland yet?

If not, then I could see it being the Shenmue of the West.

-A bladder
-A pocket
-In an Oil Drum
-literally, inside a book.
-On a keyboard.

That's all I can think of for now.

What about a whole set inside....a washing machine...or a dryer....or even....a light bulb.

Folklore, an RPG on the PS3 was set in Ireland, take that.

I think one of the Mario cart games had a level set on top of the console it was made for (gamecube)

Not true. There was an old magic school bus game set inside the human body....

Wait, no. They never made it to the bladder.

LittleBigPlanet people did a washing machine before.
Maybe I missed the concept of the thread, does fan-made stuff actually count or is it out of the box type.

Also, inside a bottle of fingernail polish.

A branch of Lidl, on a rainy Sunday afternoon in November, while there's a big football match on at the same time.

Or, between my carpet and the underlay. I'd like to see the texture mapping on that.

Maybe I don't know, but has there ever been a game set in Australia?
You could go to Australia in Tony Hawks Underground 2. Although it wasn't set entirely in Australia.

I figured there was already a game set there. Thank you for helping me out.

Okay, how about New Zealand? But Lord of the Rings doesn't count.

I know. A whole game set in an idiot's brain and he thinks of very very stupid stuff, which you must fight.
That was a major part of Psychonauts. I can't recall if any of them were actually stupid, but isn't crazy so much more fun?

I'd say a game set in a volcano. Would be awesome. No, Super Mario 64 doesn't count just because there's a volcano that you can go into.

The Brittanica expansion for Medieval Total War II had Ireland as a playable faction. You started on Erin proper, and could expand into Britain. All the general names were Anglicized stereotypes, and I tried to change that by updating the proper txt document, but it just destroyed the game and I had to reinstall. So if you don't mind playing as stereotypes, you too can forge a pan-Celtic Briton empire and give the Anglo-Saxon/French crown a run for it's money.

I'd set a game in Western Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley, during the French and Indian War. But I assume the next Total War is probably going to do this, given the historical context, so we'll see how it goes.

[sarcasm]Ooh! Ooh! I know!

The Second World War![/sarcasm]

Seriously, though, I've yet to see a video game set in the preColumbian Americas.

Back in the Ninties, when the rage was to put cheap computer games in cereal boxes, there was an in-name-only adaptation of the board game Operation in a ceral box. It took place mostly inside the human body.

In a notebook where you need to get someone from point a to point b, but you have to compete against a rival "artist" spawning various enemies and obstacles by drawing your own paths and allies and so forth. Think Lemmings meets Comix Zone.
