For anyone that has the latest pokemon game.

Make sure to get your FREE MEW!

Here's the details!
http://www.pokemongoldsilver.com/us/#/news/mew

I got mine which I'm really happy about because I'm in Canada and usually these events are only in the US or Japan. And I'm not driving 3-4 hours to get a pokemon, forget it.

7? How did you manage that?

I don't know.

Kind of a shame.

Mew is meant to be so rare it is thought by most not to exist.

Giving it away is a bit much.
True. But kind of a shame to have neat pokemon but never be able to actaully use them, unless you're some kind of cheater/hacker.

Someone at Nintendo must have read this

I have Mew on Pokémon red and yellow somewhere.
That's all I need.

Might tell my younger brother though if I see him in time.

Or you could just get Mew through a GameShark equivalent for the DS.
Chances are there's one on the market...

I'd prefer an item that is given to you that leads you on a hunt for the mystic Mew.

I've never enjoyed just being given a Pokemon, I want to hunt them down and catch them. Which is why I said "Fuck you!" to Nintendo when they basically just gave away Darkrai. I wanted the freaking story that you get when catching him. It's in the freaking game, you just need the right item which is very easy to get thanks to Wi-Fi, but I'm starting to think that Nintendo is xenophobic which would explain why we - America, Canada, United Kingdom, basically everyone other than Japan - rarely - if ever - get such mystical devices much less the chance to get them.

Why do I think that? Because Japan got such an event, Japan got such an item... and Japan gets the freaking story! That's why!

I'm hoping I'm going to get proven wrong and someone is going to link to me that Nintendo allowed us to access our routers to get the mystic device and unlock the story. Nevermind that I religiously watched the site for it, that I found out that America gets only the Pokemon not the item to hunt it down with thanks to Serebii and how Japan got the item to hunt down the Pokemon... etc.

Yay! Mew! Now if only I could get my Jirachi back from when my game deleted itself.

And if only we actually got more of these events, and didn't just end up sitting here watching Japan get ridiculous numbers of fancy exclusive pokémon...

Fucking Nintendo games not supporting WPA connections... forcing me to use shitty wi-fi hotspots near me...

I'll get it when the hotspots decide to work. Which is hopefully sometime before this event is over.

Meh, I already got 2 mews from some event a few years ago so I don't really care. However, my little brother might. The website doesn't seem to like my computer though and it crashes everytime I try to load it. Can someone tell me what the details of this event are?

Yeah, I'm rather pissed about that as well. Why can't the rest of the world hunt down the rare pokemon? Its fun, intense, and great. I guess it boils down to localization, but in some games the events are localized and we just need the items. Which in the US we can only get through a gameshark or something similar.

Basically to get Mew you just choose mystery gift in the startup menu, go to "obtain through Nintendo WiFi, get Mew, start the game, go to a department store with an open spot in your party, and he gives you Mew.

That's it? So you just need a Nintendo Wifi connection? That seems incredibly simple compared to what you had to do in their old events.

To bad the DS seems to hate our internet connection and never works with it. Maybe I can get it to work this time though.

If I had bought Soul Silver instead of Chaos Rising and Modern Warfare today, I would've gotten my first ever Mew. Sadly, that is not the case.

I will be very, very disappointed if this Pokémon doesn't resemble Tarja Halonen.

It took about 2 hours to sort out wi-fi but dammit, I got it! Gave it an exp share, as it had a lot of catching up to do.

Still got a Mew on my old Yellow version. I was so proud when I got that, you had to send your cartridge to the Swedish Nintendo Club and they would give you one. I was the only kid in town who actually went through with that, and as such I was the coolest kid in school for a week!

Mew and most other legendary Pokemon just don't appeal to me anymore. There's no mystery, no mystique. I remember being a kid, playing the hell out of Pokemon Red and Blue like every other kid my age and wondering if Mew was real. There really was an element of mystery back then, see. There were scraps of evidence pointing to Mew's existence, but nobody really knew for sure, except that one kid who's "friend's cousin's dad works for Nintendo and saw a Mew under the truck next to the SS ANNE in Pokemon Green."

Nowadays, when a new Pokemon game comes out, the Legendaries are usually among the first to be revealed, and there's never any point in trying to find out how to catch them because Nintendo eventually gives them away over Wi-fi. What's the fun in that?
