That face, it is the stuff of nightmares! It's like an extra-creepy Trollface! Who delights in watching that kind of misery and suffering?
Us book readers, who already lost everything and like to share our misery.

People should have seen this coming a mile away regardless of if they read the books or not. The Starks had it coming for being foolish in the narrative and its obvious that George RR. Martin had the red wedding planned to pull the rug out from under us again after poor Ned got clipped in season 1.

But anyone who is thinking about not watching after this I urge you to stay a bit longer to see who gets axed next. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Granted it's telegraphed from a mile away in the books, the show really didn't emphasize it that much. In the books you really get a sense that Rob is really just a bullheaded kid just like Joff. And they're both just kids playing in a world of men and thus both are really making naive decisions that rubs everyone the wrong way. And by the time it rolls around you real get a foreboding sense that shit is really hitting the fan all around. The funny thing is, I really don't think that the Red Wedding was as much of an impact for readers as it was for the watchers of the show. The books spent most of the mentioning Rob as a character who was off doing his war stuff, I actually don't think there was any chapters that were actually first person for him. But the show spent so much time with him.
What happened here is the complete annihilation of house Stark. Things only get worse from here.

I haven't read past the first book yet and I didn't even realise this was supposed to be a shock. In the episode The Bear and the Maiden Fair Roose Bolton gives Jaime back to Tywin. His men see it and Jaime even says to Roose 'tell Rob Stark I'm sorry I couldn't make his uncle's wedding. The Lannisters send their regards.'

How obvious do they have to make it?

Am i the only one who hated both Robb and Catelyn?

I mean Robb was a spoiled brat who basically abandoned the war he started for a nice piece of ass, and Catelyn always seemed like a ... well, not a very pleasant lady.
No you are not. I was always a bit detached from Robb since we never got any POV chapters from him, and Catelyn just came across as a self-righteous, stuck-up, egotistical snob of a ***** (I find her more sympathetic in the series, where we don't delve into her thoughts. Her irritating, blinkered thoughts). When she got the chop I was glad, though admittedly shocked as well, because now I felt vindicated in my utter dislike for her

Not read the books, don't click this. Seriously, DON'T CLICK THIS! YOU, HAVE, BEEN, WARNED! Watched the episode in question? STILL DON'T CLICK IT!

Entertainingly, dying only served to make her MORE of an self-righteous, stuck-up, egotist!

What i take away from the reaction videos and this comic (plus several other incidents) is that everyone who read the Ice & Fire books are evil.

And with all the "subtle hints" book readers have been dropping me about the next episode and how i'll "like it if i hate x" i'm not even in suspense over it. If it does come to what has basically been slapped in my face i'll just go "yeah... the reading crowd already told me this".

I'm starting to think i should just stay off everything Game of Thrones related since nobody seems capable of shutting their mouths <_< (Slightly bitter, yes. How'd you tell?)

For the Watch!

I really hope GRRM finishes the books, unlike Robert Jordan.
While sad, Brandon Sanderson did a fine job of wrapping up the series in my opinion. Which was surprising, since I'm really not much of a fan of Brandon Sanderson's other work. I guess having to work with someone else's characters, rather than using the same stock characters he populates most of his work with, rather helped him out.

On topic:
I've not been keeping up with the TV series. Still, all I really remember about the Red Wedding was that I was just so overwhelmingly relieved that Catelyn was dead. People talk about throwing the book across the room in anger at the Red Wedding, well... I nearly did the same thing when it turned out she was still alive. Rob I couldn't care less about, so other than that my only interest in the whole scene was that it was continuing Arya's transformation into a child psychopath.

I'm not sure I'd call Lady Stoneheart stuck-up and egotist. Self-righteous, vengeful, bitter, hateful and about a dozen other negative things but not really stuck up or egotistical. Truthfully I like her more after the Red Wedding than before and it's something I can't wait to see next season. Along with the Purple Wedding, Tyrion's revenge and a few of the other high points of second half of the third book.

Robb's death pretty much says: House Stark is fucked beyond salvation, it is only a matter of time before all men of Stark is dead and the women are reduced to whores in one of Littlefinger's Brothels while the Freys and Boltons turn the North into their own playground of pain/skyrim mod

I've been enjoying the reaction videos immensely. They sustain me.

On a side note, what truly shattered me while reading it years ago was
not getting to see Arya reunited with her family.
It was an ugly gut shot. I had to learn how to trust again after that.

Yup. I know. So? Arya's the only Stark woman I give a fig about, and the death of her family basically just gives her extra fuel over the next few books to help her become a proper little psychopath. As for the males... Bran and Rickon are well out of the whole deal and presumed dead by pretty much the entire population of Westeros. Just leaves Sansa, and she does a good job of matching her mother in terms of annoyance. Littlefinger's welcome to her.

Really, it's Daenerys that should be the focus. Her part of the story is a bit like this weird tangent for the first book, but after you find out there are full-blown prophecies regarding her return to Westeros it's pretty clear that she's the archetypal Chosen One/Saviour/generic fantasy hero of the setting.

This is by far the best one yet!

This is how I was to everyone else who wasn't spoiled after the 9th episode aired.

This is the forum thread for a comic strip about how viewers unfamiliar with a book would be surprised/horrified by the events of the latest episode in a television adaptation of the book; a place set aside for discussing the thing lots of people watched and want to talk about.

Do you want everyone to stop talking so you don't hear them? One doesn't walk into a room with a neon light flashing "Red Wedding discussion" above the door and complain that the topic came up.

How wonderful, a comic I don't understand because I'm still on book 2. I guess I should bookmark it so I can come back and read eventually.
