It's a Nice Day for A Red Wedding

I haven't watched the series nor read the books.. so this confused me until I investigated-

Wow.. so basically the whole main cast is killed off. Like, major likable characters including one who's pregnant. That's pretty much a move a LOT of writers wouldn't be willing to take but nether the less I bet so many people are going to stop watching the show even if the series continues.

You really haven't seen the show or read the books, then. Only two major characters out of 12 main characters were killed.

I'm surprised people were so shocked by the Red Wedding. Every event following Robb's marriage to Jeyne/Talissa lead him to his grisly end at the Twins.

I'm starting to think i should just stay off everything Game of Thrones related since nobody seems capable of shutting their mouths <_< (Slightly bitter, yes. How'd you tell?)

This is the forum thread for a comic strip about how viewers unfamiliar with a book would be surprised/horrified by the events of the latest episode in a television adaptation of the book; a place set aside for discussing the thing lots of people watched and want to talk about.

Do you want everyone to stop talking so you don't hear them? One doesn't walk into a room with a neon light flashing "Red Wedding discussion" above the door and complain that the topic came up.

It's not so much about the Red Wedding (because i already saw the episode when it came out), but rather the "encouraging" hints that get dropped which are supposed to make this event seem surmountable. Thanks for leaving out the main focus of my post in your response

In this case, it was the greaves of the Boltons and the Freys on the face on the Starks, forever.

Most people who haven't read the books had a huge OMG!!!! moment when they saw that episode......

I don't watch the show nor have I read the books so this doesn't mean much to me, but that face in the last panel is truly terrifying.

The latest episode has a very unexpected plot moment, one that practically nobody could see coming.

Unless you read the book or someone who read the book told you about it. XD

Seriously, how did this scene not get completely spoiled? I'm surprised by people's restraint to not just blurt out "HEY GUESS WHAT HAPPENS LATER LAWL!"

Because what is better? Spoiling a scene for somebody watching them go "What?! Oh shit really?" or sitting next to them and seeing their reaction as it unfolds?

Honestly probably the best episode of the series so far. As a non reader I saw most of the other major events, or at least wasn't particularly shocked by them but this one got me.

Really? I thought this was pretty well foreshadowed.

Neither my partner or I read any of the books, but Robb's death seemed guaranteed the moment he broke his oath to Frey. He never seemed to have much of a shot at winning the conflict, but having to go crawling back to Frey seemed doomed to failure.

I was a bit surprised it was done as it was though. I was expecting them to just be lured into an ambush, but I guess since Game of Thrones is less about battle and more about drama and politics, I should've anticipated it sooner.

Oh no I agree. I pretty much knew he was going to die, I just really didn't think it would be in this way. I figured it would be something like Frey would stab him in the back when they were sieging the Lannister's castle, or report to the Lannisters what Robb's plans were.

Well it was originally my plan to watch entire 3rd series once it had all finished, until this whole "shocking scene" thing blew up everywhere. Not wanting to accidentally have it spoiled for me I decided to catch up quickly, but annoyingly the Escapist title for this comic "It's a Nice Day for a Red Wedding" is pretty much a giant spoiler to begin with; couldn't Carter have named it something less obvious?

I really dislike Game of Thrones. I think it's a good show, probably even a great one, but it never clicked with me.

Ah yeah, that's more of what I was expecting too. Was a surprise in that regard, for sure. If only because it's a bit hard to imagine that many people keeping up a ruse all that time without giving it away.

Brandon Sanderson did a really good job capping them off.

That depends on how many books he has planned I guess. Jordan released books faster than Martan is. The books so far almost seem like a prologue to the main story.
