It's the way of the world (not just internet) where anything that is too good ends up because used too much and we just can't seem to get away from it. Internet example being the ponies, real life british example being "am I bovverred" or "yeah I know".
The Ponies though I must admit haven't really annoyed at all, much more enjoyable and inventive than the internets usual obsessions with shit cat jokes on pictures.
I might actually go watch the show... for the lulz.

Weaboos. I don't come across them often, but whenever I see a Japanese phrase thrown into an English post, my left eye starts to twitch. It's unfortunately extended to anime avatars, which is silly because I watch anime occasionally [as long as it's not dubbed].

Seriously, those ponies started when I was 3, to put into perspective that was 1983, 28 years ago. Around 1993 they died a horrible, painful, stuttering death.
Granted they were still hovering around in limbo but they were too scared to show their faces.
All of a sudden they have shot out of nowhere, no one saw it coming.
I have a friend who watches them with his daughter (or so he says). Now remember that My Little Pony was aimed at young women and children when Hasbro launched them and to this day they haven't changed.
Now i'm not saying grown men are girly for watching it at all, i've watched cartoons recently myself albeit not the ponies. I haven't watched it myself but i've never known something so old thats relaunched and taken off so quickly.

And the former, of course, is exactly what you're doing. I don't understand why you'd choose to make yourself and everyone you see enjoying the memes miserable over a few innocuous avatars and jokes that you can easily ignore (especially with the option to block users) but its up to you to decide how you feel and act.
