It's Official: Persona 4 Is Getting an Anime

Eehhhh....game-based anime is rarely worth a damn. They know they'll get sales from fans of the game so they don't try very hard. Look at the Disgaea anime.

Can we please not look at the Disgaea anime? So much disappoint in that anime.

I'm not talking about image quality, I'm talking about the character design itself. Their faces are subtly different from how Soejima drew them. I have his artbook in front of me right now and something is.. odd.

Yes, I'm definitely overthinking and making far too much of this, but it's kind of distracting. It looks like fanart.

You have far better eyes than me if you feel that way. I do think they look slightly taller though, who's the character designer for the anime? If it isn't Soejima you gotta expect there to be some differences. As long as the animation is fine and they don't stomp all over the original story it should be fine. Not trying to be rude or anything by the way, if it sounds that way.

Hmmm, I can foresee this being one of those slow sad animes, the kind that put me to sleep. I mean, the games aren't exactly exciting as far as story progression is concerned. BUT, I do like the games a lot, and I will definitely give this a shot before I make any final judgements.

What? You sure you're not thinking of a different MegaTen game? P4 is about as upbeat as Atlus has ever been.

I take it back, I was thinking about a different Shin Megami Tensai game. It is super upbeat. I was totally thinking of my last playthrough on P3P. Which was a fantastic adaptation to a handheld, and I can't suggest it enough for the different content.

I'm not trying to disparage the anime either, it looks perfectly fine (visually, we don't know what they'll do with the show yet). It's just that there's a slight difference in the design and it's messing with my head. Maybe it's just me.

Hopefully it will have better animation than the cutscenes.

Awesome I approve of the main character's name. I always name my Persona characters Yuu because it sounds like 'you'. Just the surname is different each time.

Hopefully the anime will give him an actual name, or else that script will be really awkward to act out.

The official site has the main character's name as Yu Narukami.

He will always be "Charlie Tunoku" to me.

Yes the Abyssal Chronicles one was made of win, but it was being done simultaneously as the air as I recall, so even if localization does eventually happen a sub like that is still a possibility.

While I have not played Persona 4. I have read the Hiimdaisy stuff, and am really excited for this. Now I just need to find a Gamestop that has a copy or borrow it from my friend and play it.

Okay, so that didn't work out so well. Anyway, I was a big fan of Persona 3, never got around to playing 4. Maybe this would be a good time to get to it; judging by the 90 or so hours I have logged on P3P, I suspect I'll have enough time before the dub hits stateside.
