As some of you may (or probably won't) have noticed, I've been posting more threads recently than I used to. Now, it's time again, for the Great Escapist Obscurapalooza!

Okay, I made that up. There's no such thing as the Great Escapist Obscurapalooza. What's that, weird brain voices? I'm going crazy? Well, screw you. There should be an obscurapalooza. I want one so there should be one. Yeah? You say that's silly? Don't make me beat you again, brain, it hurts me just as much as - no, wait, that's a lie. It hurts me more.

Ahem. Where was I? Oh, yes, the obscurapalooza (I really need to stop saying that, don't I?). This is a thread for all your more obscure references. I figured that many people here share a lot of interests and yet others are relatively unique. For example, most people here like COD, or films by Michael B - no, I can't say that with a straight face. But we all love things like Firefly or XKCD, right? But then, everyone has their own unique interests. Like, I've found very few people here who share my love of indie rock, in particular, the band Reverend and the Makers. So this is a thread to share your more obscure likes and dislikes. What do you enjoy that no-one else does? Have any obscure references for people to guess at? Come along, and maybe you'll find something you weren't interested in before :D

While we're at it, I posted this on my Facebook page a while ago. Let's see if anyone can understand exactly what I'm referring to:

"Always be prepared - you never know when your neighbour will turn out to be a psychotic but cute OCD blonde girl who likes vacuuming at 4am (cookie for the reference :D)"

It's about a particular fictional character...
It's from a webcomic that may or may not be widely known here...

I'm going to assume xkcd or whatever it is called is the reference. My obscure loves are, as people know, Peanuts and Classical music. Not many on here share my passion for either, but when they do it's a fantastic thing to behold.

Dammit, I didn't expect anyone to get it that quickly. You, sir, have good taste. I applaud you in your choice of regularly updated indie-fuelled internet publications (that's webcomics to the uninformed...).

Well.. as we are in a gaming forum, I doubt that many of you are as fitness/sport crazy as I am.

Dude, I really love swimming, in fact I'll be up at 5:15 am tomorrow so I can do just that.

I love classical music! And jazz.

Gerry Mulligan.

If you know who he is, you win.

I didn't but my friend Gary Oogle did. What an awesome jazz player that guy looks like as well! And I always love how you like classical, right now I'm listening to Haydn's 104th "London" Symphony, ahhhhh, amazing.

"What's the problem? Just vaporize: everyone, everything. POOF! Mission accomplished. Medals, awards, a parade! Next?"

"No, wrong, false, none of the above! Why? Because we're not supposed to be here!"

"What?"

"We goofed, we erred, we misinterpreted the data at hand. Let me explain the whole situation in a nutshell: There are five of us, and four billion of them. They have strategic air commands, nuclear-powered submarines, and John Wayne." *picks up shotgun* "We have this."

"Is it loaded?"

*cocks shotgun*
"Let's find out!"

"I don't like crooks. And if I did like 'em, I wouldn't like crooks that are stool pigeons. And if I did like crooks that are stool pigeons, I still wouldn't like you."

"I'm a hero. I was shot twice in the Tribune."
"I read where you were shot 5 times in the tabloids."
"It's not true. He didn't come anywhere near my tabloids."

I will love you forever if you get these quotes. Most of the stuff I like isn't obscure, but I don't see a lot of people on the Escapist really being fans of them. I love Betty White (the high point of my year was getting a personalized autograph photo from her), bluegrass music and juggling.

He's great.
Plays my favorite instrument EVER.

Haydn's pretty cool too.
(But Chopin's better)

Ah yes, I remember you liking Chopin. I have everything he ever wrote, but I haven't listened to much yet. Basically I'm slowly going through my entire 30gb collection listening to everything I have, starting with Bach and finishing with Vivaldi. I'm also a shocker for doing it out of order, so I've listened to things like all of Mozart's Piano Concertos before I'd finished listening to Bach's Goldberg Variations. I'll get to Chopin eventually...

No!
Go listen to him now!
But that's cool. I like Bach and Vivaldi too. It's just that I'm piano-centric, and Chopin was the most thoroughly pianistic composer ever. He composed for the piano as had never been done before. It's awesome stuff.

I love his second piano sonata, the Marche Funebre third movement, and the first movement of his first piano concerto is amazing, but I still haven't listened to enough of his. I always thought Beethoven was fantastic on the piano, followed by Bach for shockingly hard to play yet simple songs, and Mozart just because he was amazing at everything.

"As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about."

God, I love that movie.

Webcomics and classical music. Now there's a combination I never though I'd see.

Not being one to disturb an eclectic grouping like that, I add my own reference to the winds of the obscure...

"I swear Bud, if you don't start stocking the tea I like, I'll be all about the violence!"

Now, will that be figured out right away, or never?
