Tell us about the games with mechanics or features that give you a warm, satisfying feeling.

My first choice goes to Fallout 3. It's in the little details like the rustle of bottle caps, the crack of the hunting rifle, the reload animation for the assault rifle, the act of opening an ammo box, the cha-ching of XP after a VATS kill...

I also enjoy the fast, fluid aiming mechanics in the Call of Duty series and Borderlands, especially satisfying on 360 left and right triggers.

Share the little things that make you happy!

hmm, I guess in Portal, the way you can go through them so easily and stuff, that's really good.

The Clack of my Chinese assault rifle, the ding of the shells hitting the sandy ground and the slow "Euuuuuurrgggggghhhhhhhhhh" Of a super mutant as his head is liberated from his body.

Seriously, i need to play that game again, Fallout New Vegas better have Vats.

The deer that you occasionally see while wandering through a forest in Oblivion... And then the twang of the bow as I recreate the meadow scene from Bambi.

I like the dismemberment of heads in Fallout 3, there's something calming about watching heads explode into a hundred little chunks :)

I was always fond of the way the main character in Shadow of Colossus interacted with the environment. If one foot was on a slightly raised platform, his leg would bend to accommodate the new stance.

The directional based attacks of weapons in Morrowind. It's nice to chop when still, slash when strafing, and thrust when going forward and back.

Add a sense of dancing to combat. Especially as a Spear user. The only way to kill anything is with thrusts, so I have to make it so that I only attack going forward and back. You COULD turn on "Always use best attack", but where is the fun in that?

the "Remove all clothes" option in Saints Row 2,
actually having a Reload button in Fallout 1, as opposed to just using up ammo
in Battlefield 1942, reloading actually discards the old magazine entirely, so you'd best not waste the ammo.

A nice sound effect for a gun. Its always great fun for me to almost feel how powerful the gun is just by the sound it makes.

Another would be dragging bodies away in Hitman. It is just a rush hoping that no one shows up while your trying to dump the body in a dumpster.

little things? I have to agree with you on Fallout 3. They find a way to make reloading your minigun satisfying.

Guns jamming in Fallout 3, adds another dimension of "Oh shit!" to a game that is thrilling enough as it is.

Guns jamming in Farcry 2 is just the same, but more annoying if anything!

In Mass Effect 2 - The way Legion's faceplates sometimes flare up to look like a lion's mane.

Fallout 3 - The way my character flicks the top of the Combat Shotgun with 2 fingers at the end of a reload.

The sound of Lincoln's Repeater fired in VATS. That sound is just like music to my ears.

Taking on a brute squad in ODST with 2 fuel rod brute chieftans and 3 brute shot captains, armed only with a plasma pisol and a plasma grenade and having little to no health and surviving. On Heroic.

Using the firefly missile launcher in crackdown, it kills everything and sends enimies into the air. And you can lock on to the dead enimies and send them even higher into the air.

Using the CAIN heavy weapon in Mass Effect 2, it destroys anything in the area.

The sound of throwing a turret through a Paticle Field on Portal, switching to the Scout's Bat just to see the animation(Same with the Spy's Knife.), and defending anything as a Heavy.
