Sometime in 2013, I came across a video called Feminist Frequency. You can probably see where this is going; I was angry and questioning the intelligence of people on the internet. I was subscribed to channels like The Quartering and followed bunch of anti-woke twitter posts and rts. Some of you probably saw my posts on these crazy woke takes in gaming/movie industries.
Since then, I followed and shared nearly every major controversial woke news. There were people who agreed with me, disagreed with me, and flat-out cutting contacts with some of them. I got angry with people calling me bigot and every "-ist" under the sun. I left a discord community, whom I thought were gonna be lifelong friends, only for them to cancel me because one of them instigated a witch hunt and turn them against me. Things did settle down, but the dude never apologized, and said "It's just a joke, I do that to everyone".
To clarify, I have a stable job, got other productive hobbies, and love to go outdoors. I didn't spend 24/7 digging up these stuff, but I do admit whenver I shared something it usually were those anti-woke stuff.
It's been more than a year since I left that discord community, and until recently I continued to watch and follow these anti-woke contents. A few days ago, I looked at myself in the mirror, and questioned what I have been doing? Are these things really worth my time, getting into heated arguements on internet with people I'll probably never meet in my life? Around the same time, policial commenters like Ben Shapiro, whom I respected for fighting against femi-nazis, started to share some really toxic takes.
So I've decided to stay away from these contents. No more Quartering, Ben Shapiro, or anyone who gives terrible takes and trying to label themselves as "true social justice". My most recent experience was with the whole Hogwarts Legacy fiasco, where A LOT of cancelations has been happening. I am just too tired to give a shit anymore. This means here on escapist forums, I will no longer be sharing/covering these types of news. I believe turning my attention and time away from these dramas is the only way for me to stay positive and have healthy mental strength.
I am actually regretting all the time I've spent on my computer being involved with these dramas
