"I win again, as usual," Thompson wrote. "Any gamers who don't think so and who don't appreciate what I do to protect our culture can go to Hell."
Again? Win the hell has he ever won? Unless he was secretly trying to get disbarred and make gamers everywhere hate him from the get-go, I don't think he's in a position to say that he "won again, as usual". He does also realize that the Taliban wasn't even removed, right? They just changed the name, but we all know it's still the Taliban.

Anyway, here I go on my trip to hell!

You see EA? See what you've done? You've given this guy's ego a boost.
I guarantee what he had to say did not influence EAs decision in the least. They changed it out of respect for the service men and women and their families, that's all. He can pretend he won all he wants, but he truly had nothing to do with it.

Dear Jackie,

Sweet! You know the cheat codes for Hell? Dude, I've been trying to get there for YEARS! Ever since I grabbed up these Soulstones, custom-enchanted my Daedric armor, overclocked my BFG-9000, got betrayed by Ares, teamed up with Jean Reno against Demonic Oda Nobunaga, perfected the Royal Guard style, and played Haze, I've wanted to go in there and wreck some serious vengence. Maybe even take over and sim-myself up a city in Hell with some nice lava-lake-side properties. Send me over those codes, and after I claim dominion, I'll totally invite you down for tea. Maybe some scones.

Eagerly awaiting those cheat codes (and hoping I don't need a Game Genie),

P.S., how's your legal right to practice law doing? I heard it wasn't feeling too well. So I baked it a cookie.

By the Gods, do people take him seriously?

Can we please just fire him into the sun? In the end, the only difference is the name. He's just being an egotistical prick who could kindly have a porcupine shoved into his pants.
I quote this, because in my entire life, I have never met another person to say "By the gods." It just shocked me for a second lol

Y'know what's best about this? He's claiming victory based on them renaming the force. That's all that's changed.

It's as if his whole effort was political scape-goating rather than of any real substance.

On one hand, this guy's full of shit. One the other hand, EA is a laughable excuse for a game company that hasn't made a decent game in years and has survived SOLELY through shameless milking of its past franchises.

Tolls trolling trolls. 4chan has finally hit reality.
while i agree with your first point ea makes some great games. ever play dragon age? mass effect? dead space? mirrors edge? need for speed most wanted? crysis? battlefield games? the list goes on and on. if your going by milking old franchises go with activision. (though they make some great games too)

edit: now its trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls

edit 2: ...trolling trolls
I think EA is kicking themselves in the ass this year, with heavy reboots of Medal of Honor and Need for Speed (Hot Pursuit is back!), along with a major expansion for Bad Company 2. As you mentioned, they have also come out with several original IPs the past few years that have done quite well. The only thing EA really milks is sports due to monopolizing contracts, but they have lost several important ones, such as the one with NASCAR. Activision is definitely the milk maid when it comes to franchises, though. I'm excited about what EA is doing. I think they're realigning themselves with consumers, and Activision seems to be doing the opposite, saying they'll have a CoD a year and pay-to-play for it soon, "because people want it." They give out gaming crack in the form of CoD and WoW. I'm glad I went to rehab in June.

I totally picture him as the 'typical 4chan troll face' here.

Is he for real?

I know he's good for a chuckle, but why is he still newsworthy. Jack Thompson is just a worthless human being crying out for attention.
Because if we don't throw him a bone now and then he'll stop doing his funny things. And we will be bored. :D
Not gonna lie, I'd rather that we didn't hear about his shenanigans. First of all, they're down right ridiculous and fail to contribute any actual news value to the community. He's a grade A anti-game troll, and it's common knowledge by now. The only way to deal with trolls is to simply ignore them: and that means not talking about him, not paying attention to him, and if he gets in our faces again, actively disparaging him. For example, if I was the bouncer of a club and this man tried to enter, I would flat out refuse. If I was a host at a restaurant, I would flat out tell him that there are no tables available, even if it's obvious we do. If I was a shopkeep, I wouldn't sell this man a single penny's worth of goods no matter how much he offered. The man needs to realize that his words have a repercussion: that it's not only childish, humorless, and unfair, but that it's detrimental to the very "culture" that he's protecting. Unless, of course, he's referring to the culture of fanatical intolerance of media.

Personally, if someone killed him, I would seek that person out just to shake their hand. That person would be doing everyone a favor, honestly. Jack has had enough chances to realize that no body even cares about what he says or why he says it anymore. It's time for him to give up his fight and realize that he may have won a battle, but the war he is fighting is ultimately lost.
