HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE.
Look at this part right here:
Andy Chalk said:
"With all respect for everything else on your plate, but as someone who has represented the surviving family members of such videogame-caused massacres,
OH. MY. GOD.
VIDEO GAMES DON'T CAUSE MASSACRES.VIDEO GAMES DIDN'T CAUSE COLUMBINE,OR VIRGINIA TECH, OR ANY OTHER MASSACRE, AND YOU ARE SHAMING THE MEMORIES OF THOSE KILLED BY CLAIMING THAT IT DID. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD, JACK THOMPSON. YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE STATES OF FLORIDA AND OHIO.
sorry, just had to get that off my chest, as a native Ohioan.
anyway.
a game gives you the option to play as the bad guy, in this case the Taliban.
Gov't: OMG BAN IT!!
Erm... why?
Playing as the bad guy in video game is not too uncommon nowadays. Left 4 Dead, Halo, and pretty much any team-based multiplayer game gives people the option to play as the bad guy.
I get that the Taliban is a controversial subject, but will playing as a member of the Taliban really make someone put down the controller, pick up an assault rifle, and blow the head off the guy that threatened to burn the Koran?
HELL NO.
One last thing: how did he pass the bar in the first place? Tell me that much and I will personally give you gold.
Besides, the more controversial it is, the more popular it is. Just look at GTA: SA.
