Jade Raymond Problem?

Hi I'm Leon and I come to ask you people a question that has been bothering me for some time!
It started a year back when I was hearing of a female producer called Jade Raymond, It seemed she was promoting her new game 'Assassins Creed'.

after thousands of videos posts all over the Internet of interviews and discussions with Jade. I started to get suspicious "why no other producers?" "why is there a lack of interviews with other members of the team?". Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the woman, but I got a gut felling something wasn't right!

So I decided I'd read up on her see what other games she has produced?
only to find little to no information on this person. I eventually read her Wikipedia Page
and found she has produced, Charlies angels, the Sims Online, Jeopardy! and Trivial pursuit

This made me even more suspicious.

A programmer for some Low score Low budget Games,Goes onto produce Ubisofts Biggest game of 2007?

I can seem to remember 'Charlie's Angels' being in a list of the top 10 worst games of all time!
even the Sims Online had to be shut down due to Sexual offenders using it as there own little 'playground'

OK ill just spit it out, I believe jade was used as a marketing ploy to help sell copies Assassins creed and help win over a skeptic audience. I don't believe she had much to do with the actual production of the game at all.

Am I wrong in thinking this? ( I hope so )
but after a year or so of thinking this is my opinion
does anybody else have any thoughts on the matter?

It makes me personally feel like where being marketed to as Losers.
we'll fall for any game as long as it has some vague marketing scheme to do with women

or ya know..it didnt have anything to do with this person?

I had never heard of this person until now. so i think you can rule out your crackpot theory on marketing schemes to do with females.

added to that i dont think you can trust wikipedia to give you a CV of what this persons done.

Leon, you're about a year too late on this one, and it's probably not a pot worth stirring (again).

Try googling jade raymond + controversy or jade raymond + Assassin's creed or damn near any combination of the words you used in your post with Jade Raymond and you'll find more info and commentary than you ever wanted.

Ah, the joys of the internet. Leon, your theory may have some validity, but I don't think Ubisoft would waste valuable money to hire someone to lie and pose as a Producer. If she has already worked as a producer before, it means she has been working in the games industry for several years. One does not simply get employed as a producer from the start. Something tells me she's at least qualified as a producer.

As for her being the only producer interviewed, this may be because not too many producers like to be interviewed. She may have just drawn the short straw. Or perhaps she has a fair amount of advertising experience, and so she was best for that job too. Or maybe, just maybe, she was the most involved in the creation of the game and so knows it the best.

Just some thoughts. Not intended to be snarky or confrontational.

Well there is a simple example she is a qualified producer who attended a interview at Ubisoft. What do interviewers like? Charisma. She was charismatic therefor got the job and her charisma also made her the spokesperson because she had the ability. She is a producer with marketing skills is all. Although i don't think putting a pretty face to a game could hurt sales to the casual gamer demographic.

Well she moved up because of that interview then. She was a qualified programmer who had the charisma to earn the role of producer in an interview. Happy?

Sorry about the tone but i think my point is still valid with that technicality.

Didn't she used to host Electric Playground too? Also, I thought we all knew she was just a pretty face they hired to promote Assassins Creed.

EDIT:
Hey she was a producer for There [http://www.there.com/] too! I remember doing beta testing for that. Pretty 'meh' experience overall, in my opinion.

pretty much

but a producer is a major role
it involves knowing the ins and outs of most gaming departments, audio, concept design, programming etc etc

I doubt charisma alone would land you a producers slot, otherwise the FONZ would of produced every game up until now

I don't think I'm the only one that would kill for an "eeeeyyyy!" button in every video game ever made.

Did the game come out on time? Did it cost what they said it would cost? Was it reasonably well-received? Did someone else -- like a company vice-president -- have to intervene a lot to make that happen?

If yes, yes, yes, and no, then she did a good job. Pretty simple.

I think alot of the problem though is people see her as the "Milli Vanilli" of video game producers. Know what I mean?
