Quantum of Solace was one of the worst action movies I've seen in my life, and it absolutely had the most horrible camera work I've seen anywhere. At every turn the camera made it impossible to see what was going on. In one instance I noted there was exactly 1 frame where an important object appeared onscreen to give you an indication of what Bond was doing.

One frame is not enough time for the audience to notice important crap like this!

Blegh, I shouldn't even have to explain why the movie sucked. Like Transformers, it shouldn't be necessary. Maddox does a good job explaining the whole bit, but even he forgot to mention the absolutely abominable camera work. It's shakycam at its absolute worst.

I have no problem with Bond as a series being put on hold or killed if it will prevent more movies like Quantum of Solace.

Firstly, to those say why don't they make it as it will make more money, its because they don't have any money to make it and no-one is willing/stupid enough to lend money to a company that already has $3.7bn of debt.

Personally, I really didn't like Casino Royale as I've never really liked the recent trend of more realistic action films that it was trying to copy. The James Bond films have always tried to be fun first and realistic second and as such, filled the hole inside every bloke who would love the oppotunity to do something that looks cool, is over the top and slightly stupid such as drive a tank through the streets.

While it's a shame that "Bond 23" is on hold I would be surprised if doesn't end up getting made. MGM will either sort themselves out (find a buyer or whatever) or they'll sell the IP to someone else who'll make the money as Bond movies are still guaranteed to make money despite Quantum of Solace.

I wasn't exactly clamouring for the next Bond movie anyway so I'm happy to wait.

DO NOT SHUT BOND DOWN! I've seen the bond movies since I was 8 years old with my father and my brother. We got the whole collection of the movies. :(
For the love of God, have the decency to shut down when my whole family is extinct.

Well, I have to wonder if this news is a publicity stunt to be honest. The Bond movies by all accounts are a money maker, and the new guy has been doing well at the box office. Thus, even with money problems, this wouldn't be the franchise you'd expect to be hit.

My inner paranoid cynic makes me think that the entire idea is to get an outcry from Bond fans demanding the movie, and generating hype for it, and causing a massive theater surge of bond fanboys to come out in support during release, thus generating far greater revenues than normal.
You know what? that actually makes sense, considering how divided everyone was about Quantum. Personally I couldn't stand it, but if they wanted to trick me into seeing another one just as bad, the only way it'd have any chance of working is if I was fooled into thinking for a while that there would NEVER be another Bond film.

Wait, so MGM need money, and they decide as a result to cut the legs off one of their biggest haulers? This makes so much sense! Why not just invest in the film and refund yourself when it comes out?

So..MGM is shaken but not stirred? Pity, but it will make way for something new as Jason Bourne is already much more Bond than the latest Bonds were.

Good. I have been really disappointed in the Bond series since Pierce took over the role as bond. Sure GoldenEye was still good but Die Another Day was crap. Full of dodgy CGI and corny action moments. Don't get me started on the two Craig films.

The newer films are just a bunch of action films with Bond's name slapped on it to draw in ludicrous amounts of cash.

Sean Connery is the true James Bond in my heart, followed closely by Roger Moore.
Let Bond rest in peace.

It wasn't hot babes in bikinis who know kung fu that beat him, nor was it a supervillain with a killsat made of diamonds, nor was it liver disease from all those tasty martinis. No, MI6 ran out of money. Bond wanted a BMW made of Titanium with rocket launchers, machine guns and a cloaking device.

The movies might not have been as interesting if he learned fiscal responsibility at a young age.

Just move Bond to book media & let Hollywood & games have a revival in 10 years. I have nothing against Bond, but the closer Hollywood comes to bankruptsy, the happier I am. Hell, I'd love it if Disney shut down before I died.

Wow, never saw this coming! I though Bond would be the last franchise to be suspended. Anything been mentioned about Stargates future?

Am I the only one who is reminded of a quote of Gannondorf (probably misspelled) in 'There will be brawl' He tried to rule the lands so many times, yet the economy succeeded before he could...

Really? A picture of Dalton with this article?
He is almost the worst bond ever.

OT: That sucks, I liked the new Bonds and was hopping for another one

[sub]Oh and if you want to get technical the man with the golden gun killed bond in the books[/sub]
if you really want to get technical, the original casino royal stated that everyone with the 007 moniker has died over the years and the original Bond was an aging British lord.
o_O Someone knows their bond rather well
It's the internet. There will always be someone more knowledgable than yourself.
