Well. If hollywood has showen us time and time again Robots that think for them selfs, never end well.
Why in God's name would we want to do that? It'll end up destroying us and it's cruel to make something that can't die.poppabaggins said:Yes, this AI isn't self-aware, but self-aware AI hasn't been disproven, and is actually one of the main goals of AI research. Wait, it uses the Internet? Jesus H. Copperfield, what hath we wrought.Sonicron said:Oh come on, Japan! I was hoping to at least get a few more decades out of life!
Seriously, I usually laugh at the Skynet doom prophet brigade, but the fact that this thing communicates with other bots and utilizes the internet to expand its knowledge is a bit unnerving, to say the least.
Your name says it all. I'm insane, and I want to play God. But really, sentient AI doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. If anything, it will be needed for when we're all living in computers in the future. I want to be immortal, and we need AI to make that possible.SaneAmongInsane said:Why in God's name would we want to do that? Not if we make combat parkour robots first! That's to say that they can do parkour, but also fight in a war (fire assault/sniper rifles, take cover, etc.)anthony87 said:Fucking hell Japan, you'll be the death of us all.
Because with the entire post-WWII agreement with America they can focus entirely on such things without defense spending. Which is expensive and time-consuming.Jakub324 said:Why always Japan with the technological leaps?

I'm confused, what part of giving robots the ability to think and make decisions means they're going to make the decision to KILL US ALL. It still makes no sense at all. I mean we have the ability to think and we haven't decided to kill all robots. It's a stupid idea to make a threat to the humans.lastwanderer said:have none of these scientists ever seen a single sci-fi film. this is just an end of the world level accident waitng to happen.
Life is to great for me to think that I would ever want to die. There's always something new to experience and there's too little time to do everything. Also, I'm mainly talking about living as a conscious being inside a computer (or a hybrid human/computer-connected cyborg). If I'm in a computer, the possibilities are endless (think the Matrix, but you control everything). By 2018, we'll be able to fit a human brain into $1000 worth of RAM, so I'm really hoping that we can get the proper technology to make me immortal within my lifetime.SaneAmongInsane said:Would you want to be immortal with out the choice to die?poppabaggins said:Your name says it all. I can understand wanting to live forever in theory, but I think eventually I'd want to leave.
