The real heroes are the 50 Guys fighting Day and Night to keep the reactors from exploding though while exposing themselves to the radiation.
I hope the Japanese Media is praising these people and give them more attention than made-up heroes.
They are on the news constantly. I'm sure everyones thoughts are with them. This thread isn't about that. A bunch of actors found something they could do to help out. I'm sure this means a lot to make a ton of little kids feel better.

Coming into this thread with the attitude that someone else "deserves more attention" is idiotic and rude. I hope you grow up, until then shut up.

Alright, to be honest here, as an adult? Good lord, yes, the people who are risking their very lives to stop the meltdown of three nuclear reactors, are far more heroic than anything fictitious could ever be. As a teen and an adult, this goes without saying.

As a child from the age of 4-8? You do not understand what that means. It is hard to understand what your goldfish dying means at that age. All you know is that everything you know, everything you love, is gone/changed. Do you even know what a nuke plant is? No. But you do know a big wave came and took your favorite playground/pet/best friend away and you don't know where or why. Cheesy as it might be to an adult, a super hero making you feel better, is priceless. Those who don't agree, don't remember what it is to be a child.

There is nothing wrong with giving children hope in such devastation. It's like clowns who go into hospitals to entertain sick children. I'm sure a lot of young, young children are having a very hard time comprehending what's going on and any positive reassurance is a must.

Damn it, Japan, quit being superior even in the middle of a crisis.

Kidding. Partially. Shine on, you crazy giant-robot-fighting source of the world's strangest and most awesome everything's. Only you would do something this ingenious and sweet.

I can't start to imagine how pissed Godzilla must be.
I get the feeling there's a new series of Godzilla movies coming out of this. As for the hero twitter thing I just think it's just amazing. It's shame we didn't have superman or spiderman doing something similar when Katrina hit. Heck even better make it Master Chief and Mario!

Brilliant. Well done.
Agreed. Also, these kinds of stories warm my cynical heart to near-estrogen levels. Case in point, when I read an article about the four-month year old girl being found in the wreckage, I gladly handed over my man-card and cried out of happiness.

Hey, most of those characters were MY idols when I was a kid in Hong Kong (yeah we had a lot of Japanese anime and tv shows like this there - we had the BEST voice actors too to dub).

If I was a kid and if a natural disaster occurred in my country and these guys tell me to keep my chin up in person or even on TV, I'd have stars in my eyes and have the most awesome happy and emboldened kiddy resolve to make life better for everyone around me as well.

What they did is incredibly thoughtful... the kids of all people need some hope and cheering up, and if people see this, it will flow on no matter how subtly.

This is a wonderful, touching and not to mention easily accomplished bit of cheer that can only help the children of Japan. After all, it's not just those in the immediately impacted areas, but across the whole country who need all the support they can get, though the former especially.

Ok that just made me ball. I'm serious NOTHING HAS EVER MADE ME CRY OVER THE NEWS. EVER, and yet this did. I know I should have cried at other stuff and true the people stopping the radiation are the true heroes but still [insert comment that has been said like 6 times by now]. This is just so touching.

I know these were not Power Rangers (strictly speaking), but I still need to quote them a bit.

"Answer the call!"
"Lightspeed! Rescue!"

If I were one of the actors, I would show up in Sentai costume to shelters and the like, just to bring hope to a few kids. And I'd do it even if the studio wouldn't let me borrow the costume.

Reading this article actually almost brought a tear to my eye. My hat goes off to those people who encourage the kids to stay optimistic.
