This is, as maybe two others have pointed out, old news. That said, I don't see why people are reacting so negatively.

Isn't this old, old, incredibly old-school news? I remember those fish lips from like 1 or 2 years ago if not further back.
The fish had lips that moved and a recorded soundtrack that plays. This robot is meant to generate and control sound the same way people do.

2 Pages and I think 6 kill it with fire references. A couple less than I was expecting but I was not disappointed.

OT: Why does it have to look like that?

No. This was a bad idea.
Good attempt though. Deserves a thumbs up in my book, at least in thought.

Off topic: considering I have anything but a pure, unadulterated mind, I'm surprised I was behind everyone else ITT

It sounds more like a broken vacuum cleaner.......o_0.....I just realised this thing could totally replace Kesha! :3
Yeah, but so could a broken vacuum cleaner. Or the gurgling of a backed up drain, while we're at it.

Still, once the technology is perfected, I imagine there are ways that it could prove useful. And once the Japanese stop using it to put on shows for otakus, I'm sure someone will think of what they are.

Words fail to describe you people failing to look at the fact it's ACTUALLY PRODUCING DISTINCT VOWEL SOUNDS. That's pretty impressive for a tube.

Gotta wonder, though - why is there no tongue? You can't produce anything approximating human speech without a tongue, the tongue is by far the most agile component of speech.

I should have heeded the warning. T-this cannot be unseen or forgotten...

The idea though, not bad at all. It can even be impressive.

bazinga!

BUT: if these... noises... are considered singing, then i can sing, too! *happy*
srsly, it has much more of aforementioned broken vac than "singing". or anything else, for that matter.

He got a real purty mouth ain't he.

But they missed the "human voice" by just about a mile, better go back to the workshop and do it again, or sell it to the porn industry and make bazillions.
