Air Control - A Steam Abuse Story

You thought Earth: Year 2066 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/9075-Salt-Of-The-Earth-A-Steam-Fail-Story] was bad? A mere appetizer, my child. A mere appetizer.

I remember wondering whether Earth: 2066 was a joke, but I can see now that Steam's quality control was either always terrible throughout 2014 or is getting into a dire state half way through it. Wow, thanks for bringing this to the viewers, Jim, thank God for you!

I did also watch about two minutes worth of the YouTube video, but I felt awful watching such crap.

This is very sad stuff.
Steam needs to get some sort of system in place to stop this kind of scum from selling shit like this.

Was that a new tie I saw? :)

Also thanks for the heads up. Not that I would have bought a game like that anyway, but it's nice to be kept abreast of these kinds of situations all the same.

But... but... FREE MARKET! ; _ ;

In all seriousness, good job. Valve needs to get their act together. We've reached a point where we're finding a new "worst game ever made" every few months.

I saw some "gameplay" footage of Air Control on Jim's Youtube-channel and I really hope that the whole product is just some prank, the result of some sort of bet between two developers on whether or not one of them could get something they made while high one night released on Steam.

I still like steam but yeah I agree this is getting ridiculous, I just don?t get why valve doesn?t have quality control, what do they gain from a game like this getting released?

Actually Jim you're wrong.

Quality Control is what happens after the fact if Valve/Steam were to do something before it went up it would be an example of Quality Assurance.

Thank you, Jim.
By pointing out these games, you have made me feel better about MY OWN little back-burner projects...

I saw your Squirty play of this game and, well *urgh*

Unfortunately, at the time of this post, the game is still available on Steam. Valve really needs to organise a search and destroy effort for these games: the massive PR backlash they are surely generating for the company alone must make this worthwile.

I just can't get past the 1 person on your friend's list wants this game thing.

What difference does that make?

Seriously Jim I get that there are some shit games on steam and something needs to happen, but these videos get old/
Hopefully Jim sees this and stops doing them. I mean, sure, there's a problem. Sure, it needs to be addressed. Sure, something needs to be done (a point on which you agree). But we wouldn't want to be bored, now.

That fact that this faulty, fraudulent, obvious cash-in was allowed to get any sales at all is the problem. Not that they exist, Christ they were all over the place in Kickstarter, but Kickstarter at least admitted it was an issue but didn't have the control to stop most, so people just got much more intelligent about what to put their money in. Steam is supposed to be QAing what's being sold on their site, and if they're not gonna do it and just throw out anything that passes a quick once over, they need to be honest and let people know.

Steam can't say they're looking out for their customers at the same time as this kind of unmitigated insult to gaming gets sold on their site for actual money.

This shit is getting beyond parody now. This is going to kill Steam in the long run, virtual monopoly or not. Valve's credibility is going to be in tatters.

Not only that but this is going to be a legal matter before long. Here in the UK we take consumer protection pretty fucking seriously. This shit just does not fly.

Oh and to the developers of this so called 'game'; go fuck yourselves you absolute parasites. You are everything wrong with this industry.

Wow this is amazing. I enjoyed this video very much Jim keep it up. As for the game well I knew Steam was letting crap on their system but I was generally shocked. I would really like to know what the devs have to say for themselves. Did they grow up playing games that they liked. How do they think the devs of their favorite games would re act if they know the crap they were putting out.

I watched both of Jim's videos on his channel about this game, and I couldn't wait for this episode of Jimquisition. And it's glorious. A melody for the ears and a salvation for the soul. Thanks Jim. I can sleep in peace, finally.

I really didn't think there could be something worse than Earth: Year 2066, but there it is. What a time to be alive.

Valve has more than enough money at this point to hire 2..a minimum number, 2 freakin' Quality Control people and have them monitor and control game releases on their system. They need to get their ass in gear and do so right now. I'm so sick and tired of new shit-games bumping down good games by being slapped on the front page.

P.S. Copyright infringement ....hope they get pulled into court.

This is so flagrant I can't honestly believe the dev isn't trying to make a point about Steam's quality control or trying to force them to do something about it. It's just... there's too much wrong with this. It has to be on purpose... Right?

Personal, I would like to hear Sterling's take on the Specialising argument. The argument that there is game reviewers' job to quality control, not Steam's, and that they need to specialise with a genre insted of reveiwing ever indie game ever made.
