Hmmph. I now see what inspired Capcom to pull that "We MIGHT make Megaman Legends 3 if enough of you buy the demo" bullshit.

The rest of that was old hat info for me though. I didn't do business with Ubisoft before, and I'm certainly not going to start again anytime soon.

We know that DRM does not work, Ubisoft knows that DRM does not work, the only possible explanation is that Ubisoft's is telling their investors it does work and the poor saps believe them. This is another level at which Ubisoft is horrible. They are lying to their investors. It is the only possibility that makes sense.

Hey, at least Jim Sterling doesn't promote rape like the Christian God. I personally have a different "God", though, if you'll forgive me.

Ubisoft is horrible. I wish they would literally just go out of business.

Jim is right, Rayman for $60 was fucking ridiculous.

The day you stop playing Ubisoft games, is the day I can listen to you ***** and fucking moan about them tho.

Cheers!

EDIT: Oh wait, if you don't play them, how can you ***** about them? It's like voting for president... damn my nonsense!
I don't ***** about their games, I ***** about their business practices.
OP: All hail our new snarky lord!

Ubisoft is basically like most other corporations. They want money and will do what the can for it. I think Ubisoft isn't as much evil as it is just a giant dick that fucks with you. Sony is the most vile corporation in my book. Capcom comes afterwards because of the fiasco with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Those bastards, why would you release the same game twice at the same price in the same time frame!?

However, he said Assassins Creed II was shit and I just can't have that so for all intents and purposes his opinion is invalid.

I fear for Jim because if God actually does exist, he will unleash the seven deadly sins on him. If that's how the Bible works...

Ya know Jim, you've been talking alot lately about how game publishers are ludacris bastards that commit evil deeds just because they can. I play many games, I enjoy many games, and like to buy my games new, so as to support the developers that worked so hard to make the games I play.

But I don't often like to support publishers because, as has been stated, they are evil, evil people. My question is, what can I do to continue to support the developers that make the game I like, but not the publishers that make choices that I whole-heartedly disagree with?

You know what, if anyone can answer this for me, then please do so!

Praise Jim!

Get rid of the "always online" shit altogether, Ubisoft, Origin.....STEEEEEAAAAAAAM!...
Actually... Steam has an offline mode! You can play without being connected to anything at all (Literally if you play on a laptop!)
You need an internet connection though for some reason...

If we can't thank God because we can't see him, shouldn't we be thanking your parents or something? I dunno, just sayin'

I can confirm when DSL died because I forgot to pay my phone bill, I could load Skyrim ok in offline mode.

...

Okay I just checked. I've played two Ubisoft published games in my lifetime, both on the PS3. The first was the latest Prince of Persia which seemed like an ok game while I was playing it, but looking back, it was pretty bad. The second was Housemarque's Outland, which I thought was an excellent beautiful game at a strong price point for what you get, and would recommend anyone at least play the demo. Not as good as Super Stardust HD, but hey, what is?

Good job Your Jim-ness. It appears that you may be doing more research for your one-sided castigations. Normally I'd be curious about what Ubisoft had to say, but I just happened to see an Ubisoft employee in the comments saying that he fully understood the bile. Not quite a condemnation, but cut the guy some slack, he's probably happy to have a job, right?

By the way, the Greeks and the Romans didn't distinguish the 'heavens' from the sky. So technically, I am worshiping the same god as they did.

Heavenly Father = sky father
io pater ("Jupiter") = sky father
ios pater (father "Zeus") = sky father

So, wot's in a name?

One kind of DRM i´m okay with is the Starcraft 2 DRM.
Sure you must always be online BUT in exchange for that you can always download your game from blizzards webpage (if you´ve bought it once you got it forever) you can install it on other computers and continue your game from where you left off.

That´s a good kind of DRM one that rewards legit costumers and doesn´t punish them in anyway.

Except for the "must always be online" part. But as far as DRM goes, that sounds halfway decent.

I'll add my voice to the Ubisoft disent. I'm a fan of the PoP series, loved BG&E, and a lot of other games that they have published throughout the years. Yet, for now, they have lost in me at least four game sales due to my protest for the stupid DRM and business practices for the PC market:

PoP: Forgotten Sands
From Dust
AssCreed (and 2,Bro,Rev...everything else)
Rayman: Origins

Way to go Ubi. Keep it up.

I read something on this earlier today.

"The fact of the matter is that with the launch of the PS Vita; with titles such as Dungeon Hunter: Alliance and Asphalt: Injection seeing retail releases and price tags. Gameloft are saying that their mobile games have the same merit as full retail titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
They do not. Not because they aren't serviceable, not because you can see the bottom of a skydome in the background (you cant, all the parts are there). but because of the precedent that Gameloft has set; Mini-me's of your favorite games sold for pocket money. Harmless, until they start charging $40/£30 for them.

It's not illegal, its not even completely morally wrong. it's insulting."

Thing is Ubisoft have lost 90% of their PC business [http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/07/opinion-ubisoft-piracy-and-the-death-of-reason/] since they started down this path, and instead of doing the sensible thing and looking at their business plan they scream pirate! and keep going. It's just baffling and I'm honestly surprised they haven't been hauled into court or properly smacked down by consumer agencies over the DRM issues.

Too bad Ubi gets all the shit thrown at them and Blizzard gets to walk away clean because they thought about making up some sob anti-cheating story.
For all the Blizzard apologists and Diablo III fanboys that's true, but the DRM is just one of the many nails in the coffin for my enthusiasm for the latest Diablo installment. It also happens to be the nail that seems to be the largest one.

As much as I'd like to Jim, I can't worship you. George Carlin beat ya to it. I pray to him. And I can't see myself taking on two gods at once.

Yeah, worshipping Jim? Not going to happen, but I will thank my God that you're here regardless.

Selling a game for $40 when it's available for Mac at 1/40th the price? That's disgusting. I've composed/ripped off a song on the subject:

"I see you chargin' forty dollers for a $1 game, and I'm like Fuck You! And all that DRM makes your products real lame, so I'm like Fuck you, and a Fuck BGaE too!"
