My first console was the PS1 though I primarily use PC now. The old sony fanboy in me is glad to see the xbox flop, but the sensible person in me is afraid that sony is going to become arrogant again without a competitor. There is a possibility that if the Wii U dont start getting good games soon the PS4 will dominate this console gen. Not like the PS2, but still.Magog1 said:But as a Sony user and a computer convert, hay lifes good. Shame really, Xbox has been an interesting rival, a rival that kept sony honest at times.
...holy crap, is that actually a thing? Well, the mandatory Kinect connection suddenly makes a lot more (spine-chilling) sense. Console gamers, are you going to put up with this? I can write all the words I want, but it's your money that decides if this kind of thing succeeds or fails. Just how badly do you want that next Call of Duty game?firmicute said:At first, i didn't believe it: http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/139706-microsofts-new-kinect-patent-goes-big-brother-will-spy-on-you-for-the-mpaa
So after a couple of days I saw this and i mostly agree with you.It does indeed look bad,but what I hate the most is when people flag something as bad and they have 0 experience with it.I honestly am a fanboy of the xbox and like it more then the ps because of the simplicity, elegance and it all looks and plays a bit nicer, but honestly I am sick of microsoft's shit with the xbox live crap, the fee's (witch will probably change since that system isn't set in place still) and now the (almost) always on DRM?!Nope,I would much rather go to the PS4,and now that I look back on it,if the PS3 had the same price I would have bot it.I just really hope the online play will be free and a bit better.I'm still pissed at jim for his lack of doubt,EVEN if he is a journalist! He lost my credibility.Aeonknight said:Careful, your fanboy is showing.OZ7O said:WHAT'S THIS?JIM BEING A DUMBASS?NO WAY?!
I like how he said this is gonna be a console for the rich and he doesn't even know the price.I also like how he went on to bash a console for having MORE OPTIONS!HOW IS HAVING TV,INTERNET,MOVIES,MUSIC BAD?!?In my opinion, the focus of the conference was not good but the console IS! You HAVE to have these features to compete, you can't just be a OH I CAN PLAY GAMES box anymore. We all know that the xbox always has and WILL have good exclusive I.P.Halo,Gears of war,Crackdown, alan wake, quantum break might be good,RYSE and they might even bring out some rare games that HOPEFULLY won't suck!
All in all,i hate when people bash shit that hasn't even been released.Give it the benefit of the doubt. At the end of the day,the deciding features will be A)price B)games and C)what else it can do And for now both the PS4 and xbox one are looking good.In my opinion, the price won't be THAT expensive since sony said they are gonna learn from their mistakes and the xbox usually isn't that expensive. Also,i REALLY dislike Jim sterling, the guy who gave a game 10/10 JUST for the music and jokes,i'm looking at you, dumb deadly premonition review.Jim be sayin' shit just to say controversial shit.
You can claim that having options isn't a bad thing, but when you're looking for convenience (which is the only thing consoles have over PC gaming) of just putting the disc in and sitting back on the couch, adding a bunch of superfluous menus is just annoying. But that's just opinion, here's where it really fails:
-Always online console. As Jim said, there are people w/ crap internet out there, even in urban/suburban areas. You don't have to work for an ISP to hear the horror stories people put out w/ having unstable connections that disconnect them often, routers that aren't working properly, etc. And if your XboxOne can't connect to the server for a day, it bricks itself until it can. Convenience!
-Making you pay a fee to play used games on the console. Who thought this was a good idea? That's actually worse than EA's DLC/registration practices, because at least then my money is going to someone who puts out games I like (both EA and the developers.) I'm not paying the fucking console manufacturer to play used games when it's main priority is to play games. Also, I don't care how much you hate GameStop for what it does, the fact they are still in business means there is a market for used games. And XboxOne just gave the finger to that market.
I'm sure Xbox fanboys such as yourself will pick this up anyway. Your money, your decision and all that. But as someone who is impartial to either system (I have both in other words), Xbox just convinced me not to buy their next console. Getting CoD first isn't enough of a selling point.
If they retract some of these idiotic decisions, it may be salvagable. If they don't, then exactly one thing and one thing alone would redeem it:
Xbox Live being free.
Until then, PS4 beats it hands down.
Don't know about Sony, but MS might be trying to get those Linux and Apple users back, as much as I hate the pile of dogshit that is Windows, publishers (who aren't Valve) aren't going to give me much choice.scw55 said:I didn't realise XBoxOne was the new console. I thought people were just talking about the original Xbox (like in was way Playstation was nicknames PSOne after the PS2), but like, 5 years after XBox 360.
Where I live, if the internet doesn't work, my whole world cracks. That's how reliant gaming has became on internet connections. Curse you XboxTwat.
Are Sony and Microsoft trying to make PC gaming superior?
I've never called the Xbox 360 "Xbox", always by its full name or shortened to "360" calling the Xbox "Xbox" isn't a problem for me.Necrofudge said:I won't be buying any consoles for the new generation, but this whole thing still makes me sad.
I mean, of all the names to call it, did they have to use Xbox One?
What am I supposed to call the original Xbox? Just "Xbox?" That gets confusing! Everybody already calls the Xbox 360 an Xbox...
"First Xbox" sounds awkward and the "black Xbox" was thrown out the window when Microsoft repainted the 360, so I'm stuck here.
Screw you Microsoft, and your weird naming practices too!
Now we're getting somewhere. It's fine if you prefer the formatting that Microsoft has put on it's machines in the past, no one can fault you for that, being your opinion and all. And honestly, I do agree that this website especially has gotten very "glass is half empty" lately. But if these are the details as is, there would have to be something left out or added in the very near future that absolutely redeems the Xbox1 in order to change people's minds.OZ7O said:snip
I wont buy this. this thing can recognize your face, monitor your heart rate, can see how many people are there ( i think up to five).. its like.. fucking scary, there is a wired-video on youtube, which shows what kinect2 can do.The Rogue Wolf said:...holy crap, is that actually a thing?
