Julian, I have to say, I think this is one of your best reviews so far. It's a really good read and nice and informative. I shall add this to my ever-growing pile of stuff I need to buy/watch. ...I really need to stop reading your reviews, they hurt my wallet! XD

[sup][sup]Sorry for not commenting sooner, I had distractions...[/sup][/sup]
Wow. Thank you, Sass!!

You really need to get on with watching this though. If anything, watch this first!

And don't stop reading my reviews! Who else will fill them with the awesomeness of Dr. Cox's anger?

[sup][sup]Heh. Don't worry about it. Although, oddly enough, you're usually the last one to comment on my reviews...[/sup][/sup]

No problem~ :3

And what is the first called? *Too lazy and distracted by stuff to read through the thing again* XD

Well, I haven't actually gone off on a Cox-ish rant yet in any of your reviews so...do you wish me to?

[sup][sup]Awesome. And oddly enough, you never read mine... *Sniffles* XD [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.234884-Sassafrass-Reviews-Viva-Pinata][/sup][/sup]

The first in the Vengeance Trilogy? Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance but none of them are connected through story. Only through theme.
Kinda like the "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright.

No, no. I just meant with your avatar XD

Awwww I'm sorry! I didn't even know you made a review. You gotz to PM them to meh!!!!

Nice review!
I love the movie, even though it gets pretty dark and twisted.
[small](Actually, maybe because it gets dark and twisted)[/small]
The brawl in the hallway is probably one of my all-time favorite action sequences.

...Still haven't seen Sympathy for Mr. Vengance, although I have seen Lady Vengance.
Overall, I think I liked Oldboy better, but Lady Vengance definitely has some great parts to it.

In all honesty, I think I may have enjoyed Sympathy a bit more than Oldboy.

It's just....so great....I may review that soon but I'd definitely recommend seeing it.

I didn't like Lady Vengeance much though :/

Pretty good review here Julian!

That movie sounds like it has a very similar plot to the book/film The Count of Monte Cristo. Actually it sounds like they match up quite alot except for their settings and a few other elements. If you liked this, you may want to look into that book and possibly its most recent film adaptation.

As for the review itself, it's pretty good, but there were a few moments where it did not flow as well as it could have. You may want to do a little more proofreading just to make sure that everything is as good as it can be. Still, its a good review overall. :)

Thanks for the constructive criticism, though I must ask, what part in particular didn't flow very well?
I think I'll do that over a PM.

Well, I definitely would recommend those 2 films above everything else. I don't care what else you have to watch, get these two first. Not even if it's the German dub of Bible Black! XD

Ah, well I'll keep a look out in the future for your reviews. And now, I shall post in that Viva Pinata review of yours!

I'm pretty sure I've got Sympathy in my netflix queue... Definitely looking forward to it.

...That's too bad you didn't like Lady much. Some scenes--
Actually, the whole setup with the families taking revenge on the guy one by one... Them arguing over how to do it, and the aftermath and everthing, I think that was my favorite part of the whole movie. It really seemed to work well, even though the movie up to that point seemed kinda weak.
Also, liked the final scene with her and her vision of the grown up boy... I thought that was a terrific little coda.

I shall take that under command! :D

Ta muchly. I would make a group for flagrant advertising but it's not my sort of thing. Plus I don't write reviews quick any more.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I'm slightly confused.

I'm watching the film at the moment and hardly any of it is subtitled, only now and then does any english subtitles appear and a lot of them don't even finish the sentence so I can't even tell what's going on. Yes, English Subtitles are on.

Perhaps there's something wrong with the disc?

I always thought Mr. Vengeance was the weakest of the three. The main problem chiefly being the way in which the story shifts to a completely different viewpoint halfway through, to a character we haven't had any chance to connect with. That makes it harder to sympathise with his plight or accept his actions. Perhaps that is what they were going for; the idea of the recursory nature of revenge, but I don't think it was successful.

The other problem was the tone. It isn't any where near as essentric as Oldboy, so I had a harder time accepting the scenes when strange things did eventually happen. Compare this to Oldboy or Lady Vengeance, where absurd or bizarre things happen straight away.
