Eh, if this happened a couple years ago I would have been sad. But honestly the show started to sound like an arm of the democratic national committee. Sure, they may throw a weak punch here and there at the democrats, but it never seems to be about anything important.

Well, crap. Time to dump your Viacom stock, if nothing else...

I'm sorry to see him go. I genuinely don't think the show can survive without him, and it's hard to imagine a worthy successor.

Somehow I knew it was coming soon. I could just sense it in the way he performed on the show since he got back from filming his movie. He will be missed when he's gone.

YES! Now I don't have to be bothered with Jon's BS anymore on Comedy Central. This is like a 2nd Christmas present after Colbert left. Now I can finally enjoy the actual comedic shows on the network without being pestered by the propaganda!

Edit: The fact that most people in the comments are saying that Stewart/Colbert got them interested in politics, that just saddens me. It really does show what is wrong with kids today.
I know right! These kids these days not falling for Fox News, CNN and MSNBC "journalism", taking every word they say as if its sweet nectar and pitting different groups in battle and over exaggerating EVERYTHING, just to fuel their ratings. Damn these kids for not falling for every politicians word and not voting for or staying loyal to the same party every 4 years, even when a new representative comes in with different motives to the last, they still don't want to follow blindly into the abyss. Kids these days seeing through the bullshit so damn easily.

This generation is blah blah blah rabble rabble...
Don't forget convincing people that the MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING WHICH HAPPENS EVERY FOUR YEARS. Or that the presidential election is the most important election and local elections are only appetizers for the big one.
*When actually for an individual its the exact opposite.

So are we going to have another non-white replacement who mentions his/her race in every other joke? If that's the case, I'm out.

Just in time to run for President.

I can dream. Dreams are still free.
Only for a little longer. Disney is trying to take control of that concept, and soon you'll have to pay for every dream, whether sleeping dream or hopeful dream.

Never watched the guy, but I know he was a big figure. I think all the current stuff just shows how bad politics in the states have gotten. Might not be the exact reason, but with everything going on, this seems to have an effect on media. I can't begin to care for politics, much less sit through any section of "news" about the stuff. Hopefully this phase will end and we can get some other people to fill in.

As a non American who has never seen this show I'd like to know as to why you have that view when so many others on here enjoyed it.

I'm not trying to rile anybody up, just legitimately want to hear both sides.

In America we have a bitterly divided two party system. The liberals also known as democrats and the conservatives also known as republicans. Because Colbert and Stewart were liberals and Hdawger is not so he felt assaulted by their views when he watched that channel.

Many people here enjoyed the show because this site is vastly liberal. The conservative base is overwhelmingly skewed toward older and more traditional people. Conservatives have no interest in reaching out to the young, college students, minorities, or women and openly demonize the poor and homosexuals putting themselves heavily at odds with the younger generation. Said younger generation being where most gamers are. Furthermore, conservative media has done nothing but specifically push gamers away further by pandering to their conservative base with segments demonizing gamers and video games in general. As seen when Fox News proclaimed Mass Effect as a sex simulator marketed to children and that violent video games will make you a rapist. Just to name a few.

So that is why Hdawger celebrates the stepping down of Stewart and is angered that Stewart inspired people here to get involved in politics.
